Agnes Irene DeMott of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the age of 82 years.
Agnes and Gene enjoyed over 20 years of retired life together on Kootenay Lake, where they built their
retirement home. Agnes will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt. There are no words that can describe the sorrow and feelings of loss and the love that her passing leaves behind. Agnes is survived by her
daughter Suzette DeMott, her sons Cal, Doug and Scott (Laura) DeMott, seven grandchildren and eight great-
grandchildren, two brothers Dick (Roberta) Smeal and Ralph (Sherry) Smeal, three sisters Joyce Burnham, Helen McConathy and Lorna (John) Simpson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Agnes was predeceased by her husband Gene DeMott on March 12, 2016 and her youngest brother Don Smeal. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Evanston Grand Village and Carewest George Boyack Care Centre. In living memory of Agnes DeMott, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

Winifred “Winnie” Rowe of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the age of 92 years. Winnie’s  first job was at the CIBC in Drumheller, after that she worked for the Alberta Government right up until she retired. Winnie had a passion for darts and golf and could play a mean game of crib. She stayed very active right up until her passing; occupying her time playing cards with her friends and participating in crib tournaments both in the city and the surrounding areas. Winnie was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her friends and family were very important to her and she maintained consistent contact with each and every one of them. Winnie is survived by her children, Barbara, David and Darlene, and Ken and Carrie; her grandchildren, Benjamin, Joshua, Stephanie, Dillon, Jessie, Kayden, and Janessa; and great-grandchild Aubreigh; and her sisters-in-law Marion, Edith, and Enid and Bill. She was predeceased by her husband Archie Rowe; son Brian Meyers; and by her brothers, William Stainton, John Stainton, and Bob Stainton. As per Winnie’s wishes no formal services will be held. Condolences to the family of Leslie Mashon

Leslie William Mashon was the eldest child born to Bill and Dorothy Mashon on June 7, 1941 in Hanna, AB. He was raised near Dorothy, AB with his 3 siblings. Leslie attended school in Dorothy, AB and later drove the school bus and helped on the family farm. He also took part in building the Amerada plant. Les married Alice Crawford on June 2, 1967, they bought a farm and moved there in 1974, Les resided there until his recent passing. They raised 2 girls, Sharmon Lesley and Shannon Alice. He formed his own oilfield business and continued to work in the oil eld business up until about a year ago, as well as farmed. Les loved his work! Les enjoyed life, he loved to socialize. He had many hobbies, some of which were hunting, travelling, camping, woodwork, wood carving, he was very mechanically inclined and loved to tinker on projects. Les was predeceased by his parents Bill and Dorothy Mashon as well as his sister Louise Ann Erickson. He is survived by his wife Alice, daughters Sharmon(Gord) Hutton, Shannon (Duanne) Veno, Grandchildren, Je ery (Heather) Hutton, Brandon (Michelle) Hutton, Austin Veno, Shelby Veno, Levi Veno and Heidi Veno. Great Grandchildren, Clayton and Brooklyn Hutton. Brothers, Richard (Carrie) Mashon, Kenneth (Shirley) Mashon, Brother in laws, Bruce Erickson and Don Gordon, Numerous nieces and nephews. Many will certainly remember Les by the tilted hat, great smile, his gentle heart and helping hand. Les passed away December 12, 2018 in Drumheller, AB. Funeral services were held Monday, December 17, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Church of the Nazarene.
