She grew up in Carbon attending K-12 at the local Carbon School. After graduating high school, she ventured out of the small town on to the big city of Calgary. Deidra was a beautiful poet and spent many hours writing, expressing her love, gratitude and life lessons. She loved music and was so often seen walking around plugged into headphones. His love for the outdoors such as hiking and swimming, the sun, the mountains, his pets and animals in general were very well known. And he loved music! Darren was employed for quite a few years by Culligan in Cranbrook where he came into contact with so many customers who thought of him as almost family. Darren will be cremated and a tree will be planted in his honour at a place of Melanie’s choosing. We all would like to thank the doctors and staff of the ICU and 3rd floor at the East Kootenay General Hospital and the doctors and staff of the Vancouver General Hospital ICU for the kindness and care they have shown Darren and his family over these many months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Darren’s name to a charity of the donor’s choice. There will be a Celebration of Life for Darren on the May long weekend at Wycliffe Park outside of Cranbrook. Danielle will keep everyone updated through Facebook.
