It is with regret that the family of Bernie Wade announce his passing Sunday, January 12, 2020. He died peacefully at age 90 with family at his side. Last born child to Bernard and Edith Wade and a family of 9 other brothers and sisters on November 28, 1929 in Halkirk, AB.
The love of his life and purpose was his wife of 49 years, Thelma (Hayes). Following that was their life’s enjoyment of their 4 sons and the involvement in their lives.
A large portion of the enjoyment came through time spent with all of them at the family business - Wade’s Jewellery which flourished for many years.
Bernie was involved with many aspects as a volunteer particularly in minor baseball, the highlight was the Provincial Championship of the Hopewells in 1970.
Bernie thoroughly enjoyed many years of travel with Thelma in later years with annual trips to the U.S., and abroad.
After Thelma’s passing, he spent much of his time at the local golf course with friends.
Survived by sons;
Bruce & Jill - Kyle & Claire - Vaughn & OliverSteven & Martina - Dean.
Doug & Ann - Ryan & Therese, Kali & Christopher, Paula.
Phil      Alana - Devon, Shannon, Caitlin.
and a son, Derek.
At his request, there will be no service.

Our beautiful Mom, Betty Joan McLachlan, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, in her home at the age of 66, She was beloved mother to Graham and Erin (Travis) and grandmother to her sweet boy, Weston.
Betty was born in Drumheller, Alberta in 1953 and was raised in the nearby community of East Coulee along with her four brothers, Joe, Don (Linda), Peter (Glenda) and Jim (Debbie) Gerlinger. In the early 1980s, Betty moved to Red Deer, where she raised her two kids. Betty was recently retired after a career in the financial services industry. She was loving retirement and her new role as Grandma. Betty enjoyed her morning Starbucks, staying active and spending time with her cherished family and close-knit group of friends. She was also very important to her nieces and nephews, and many other relatives who will greatly miss her.
Betty had a contagious smile and a very selfless approach to life. She touched more people than she ever knew. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Betty is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Gerlinger, and her sister-in-law, Michelle Gerlinger.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Medicine River Wildlife Centre, Box 115, Spruce View, Alberta, T0M 1V0 or the Central Alberta Humane Society, 4505 - 77 Street, Red Deer AB, T4P 2J1, to honour Betty’s love of animals.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, January 16
at 1 pm at Deer Park Alliance Church, 2960 - 39 Street,
Red Deer AB, T4R 2G2.

April 6, 1947 - December 24, 2019

Teunja (Tonie) VanderZaan died December 24, 2019 at the age of 72 years in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. She was born in the Netherlands on April 6, 1947 and immigrated to Canada with her family in July of 1952.
Tonie completed her elementary and secondary education in Eastend, Saskatchewan, followed by Business School in Regina. She worked for the Town of Eastend before moving on and working for the RCMP detachments in Drumheller, Alberta, and Redwater, Alberta, for 38 years until her retirement in 2015. Tonie made many friends during her employment with the RCMP, and was a valued member of the detachments.
Tonie is survived by her husband, Ron Hargreaves of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta; daughter Tanya Heyden-Kaye (Jeff) of Ponoka, Alberta; son Michael VanderHeyden (Carly) of Harrison Springs, British Columbia; granddaughters Carmel and Mieko Heyden-Kaye of Ponoka, Alberta; sisters Lineke Breen of Eastend, Saskatchewan; Johanna Anderson of Lethbridge, Alberta; Ina Wig (Daryl) of Blairmore, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sister Josina in 1953, father Jan VanderZaan in 1999, her first husband Peter VanderHeyden in 2009, and mother, Klaasje VanderZaan in 2013.
A private family service and internment will be held at a later date.
