MOLNAR
Mary Olive

January 18, 1925 - April 20, 2020

MARY MOLNAR passed away peacefully at the Drumheller Health Centre Long Team Care on Monday, April 20, 2020 at the age of 95 years. She was predeceased by her beloved Alex December 4th, 1991.
Mary was born in Taber to parents Bill and Helen Kusnir. At an early age, Mary learned the value of ‘earning your way’ as she would pull a wagon around her neighborhood filled with vegetables for sale from her parent’s garden. She was soon known as “Mary Sunshine” for her big smile and sweet disposition.
On November 20, 1943, Mary wed Alex Molnar, a local farm boy, at Knox United Church in Taber. She spent many years working with her husband on the family farm south of Fincastle. In 1970, the couple sold the farm and moved to Taber. Mary worked a few odd jobs before winding up her working resume at KFC. That was a job she truly loved and looked forward to every single day.
Throughout her life, Mary loved gardening, was an excellent cook and baker and loved hosting gatherings for family and friends. She was affiliated with the Women of the Moose for many years and was a Senior Regent at one point. She belonged to several choirs over the years and to hear her sing “Ave Maria” was truly something to behold. Family was everything to Mary, and her grandchildren were her world. In addition to being adored by her own grandchildren, she was considered ‘Grandma Mary’ to the many neighborhood kids on her block as well.
Besides her husband Alex, Mary was preceded in death by son John (1978), parents, brother-in-law Tony Perl, and many brothers and sisters-in-law on her husband’s side. As well, a niece and a nephew.
Mary is survived by her daughter Shari (Brian) Kinniburgh of Drumheller; two grandchildren Mark (Kelly) Kinniburgh of Red Deer and Jennifer (David) Norman of Cold Lake; great-grandchildren Ethan, Evan, Sophie, Brett and Troy; sister Anne Perl of Taber; nephew Ken (Marilyn) Perl and family and niece Pat Perl (Gary Bodnar). Mary also has nieces and nephews across the country.
A private family service will be held for Mary.

MOE
Ludwig (Ludy)

August 14, 1920 - April 26, 2020

Ludy passed away at the Hanna Long Term Care at the age of 99. He was born in Kiran, Norway and came to Canada with his parents and younger sister at age 4. They rented a couple of different farms southeast of Hanna before buying some land northeast of Craigmyle in the Princeton area where he attended school.
Growing up on the farm led to a love of agriculture and the eventual taking over the family farm. While playing guitar at a nearby community dance, he met a young lady by the name of Grace Kalenith and they were married in November 1953. Donald was born in September 1954, and Edward in May 1957. Ludy lived on the farm until health issues prompted a move to the Hanna LTC in 2016.
Over the years, Dad enjoyed many hobbies including: music, hunting and fishing, lapidary, electronics, painting, welding, auction sales, and fixing things. He was thrilled when two granddaughters arrived, and he had someone to teach how to fish!! Spoiling the girls became a new hobby!
Upon retiring from farming, his activities included hydroponics, gardening, wine making, rummage sales, and archery. The coffee pot was always on at the Moe home.
Ludy is predeceased by his parents, Ludwig and Astrid, and sister Anne.
He is survived by sons Don (Angie) and Ed, and granddaughters Jesse (Peter) and Tasha (Nick).
Many heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at HLTC who made his life pleasant in his final years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hanna Ladies Auxiliary (Hanna Long Term Care) Box 23, Hanna, Alberta, T0J 1P0.
Hopefully, we will be able to have a celebration of life for Ludy this summer.

DEKEYSER
Albert Jules

June 29, 1950 - April 14, 2020

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Bert (Albert) Dekeyser at the Drumheller Health Centre on April 14, 2020. The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors and home care workers who have provided such exemplary care of Bert over the past months. Bert came into the world on June 29,1950 and began life living on the farm where he resided until his passing. Bert used to laugh that he had 3 traumatic moves in his life and never left the farm, only moving between houses on the farm. He began his chosen career at the age of 16 with a small herd of cattle while learning how to work and manage a farm by working closely with his father. Bert spent many special mornings, at the break of day, out in the garden with his father discussing life and what work they were going to do that day. They worked hard putting in long hours in the field. However Bert didn’t spend all of his time working. In 1969 Bert met Penny Miller through mutual friends and they were married on December 5, 1970. The Dekeyser farm family expanded in 1971 with the birth of Tim and became complete in 1972 with the birth of Jay. When he wasn’t out working in the fields, evenings were spent playing cards or board games with family and friends. Days off in the summer were spent horseback riding with the family or camping with family and friends. Winter days or evenings off were spent tobogganing or snowmobiling. Along with feeding and tending to a herd of cows, many a Saturday was spent in a hockey arena either watching Jay play or playing himself in the “Old Timers” 35 plus league. Bert really enjoyed watching his sons compete in their chosen sports, Tim’s bowling tournaments and Jay’s hockey and downhill skiing competitions. Although Bert was unable to attend the Canadian National Special Olympic Games in February this year he was cheering louder than anyone as Jay won 3 medals! Bert loved to travel and he and Penny enjoyed many winter vacations flying to Hawaii, the Caribbean, San Antonio, and many Oceanside resorts in Mexico before touring all of the lower states of the US. After retiring from work on the farm, Bert and Penny purchased a winter home in Yuma where once again cards and board games with friends became part of their life along with water volleyball, and various festivals and shows. Camping became a big part of their summer where they shared many an hour of fun and laughter with family and friends. Bert was diagnosed with cancer in January of 2018. In spite of this diagnosis and the treatments that followed, Bert managed to maintain his sense of humor and kept everyone entertained with his stories of past days and escapades right up to the very end. Bert was predeceased by his father Albert Dekeyser, mother Lucille Dekeyser, father-in-law Pat Miller and mother-in-law Norma Fizer. Bert leaves to mourn his wife Penny, sons Tim and Jay, sister Carmen (Don) Howard, brother-in-law Kelly Miller, sisters-in-law Kathy (Fred) Bagley and Robbie (Jeff) Masciangelo, and numerous nephews and nieces. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date when it is safe to gather again. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Drumheller Area Health Foundation. Courtney-Winters Funeral Homes 403-823-2666 are in care of the arrangements.
