Condolences to the family of Kevin Murray McLellan

McLELLAN
Kevin Murray

September 27, 1954 - October 14, 2021

It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Kevin Murray McLellan on October 14, 2021, at the Drumheller Health Centre.
Kevin was born and raised in Drumheller and attended the Midlandvale School and Drumheller Composite High School. He was employed with Canadian Utilities Ltd, Murray A McLellan Painting, D&M Steel Fencing, and a 35-year career with the Correctional Service of Canada before he retired. While there, he met and became friends with Ed Laplante, who remained his best friend until his passing.
Kevin was a dedicated blood donor, having donated more than 100 times, and was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 40 years, serving two terms as the Liaison Officer to the Navy League. He was also an avid gardener, a “deal finder” as he searched the weekly flyers and visited thrift stores, and a collector of coins, comics, and antiques. A stickler for routines, Kevin was known to frequent Yavis’ Restaurant for coffee in the mornings and lunches with his sons on Wednesdays, served soup and sandwiches for lunch on other days, family suppers on Sundays, and hosted a nightly 8:00 p.m. tea and cookie time with family. He recently donated 210,000 pennies ($2,100) of his penny collection to STARS Air Ambulance, a service he valued and appreciated since his son, Blake, was flown to Calgary as a baby, and again as a patient himself in his last few weeks.
Kevin will be missed for his infinite knowledge, always having items needed by others in his “general store” garage, and his unconditional kind nature.
He will be sadly missed by his two daughters: Jennifer (Matthew) Andrew and Joelle (Trevor) McLellan; his four sons: Kevin (Rachel), Konway (Monique), Blake, and Braden McLellan; his three grandchildren: Ella, Easton, and Ailsa Andrew; the mother of his sons, Brenda McLellan; his sister, Kris Kucher; and brothers, Kerry (Pam) and Frederick “Kent” (Twyla) McLellan; as well as his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Murray and Doreen McLellan; his twin brother, Robert “Kim” McLellan; brother-in-law, Doug Kucher; nephew, Christopher McLellan; and the mother of his daughters, Heather Franciotti.
At Kevin’s request, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to STARS Air Ambulance.
