BUCKLEY
Ian David

May 1, 1959 - October 22, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Ian Buckley say goodbye to their brother, after his peaceful passing, early in the morning of October 22nd, at the Drumheller Regional Hospital Long-Term Care Centre. Ian was only 62, and passed away from brain cancer and related complications.
Born in Winnipeg in 1959, Ian moved with his family to Alberta in 1965. After short residences in Lethbridge, Calgary, Didsbury and Bowden, Ian became a resident of Drumheller and the surrounding area, moving here in late 1972, with his parents and younger brother Eric. The family first located in Nacmine, but soon moved to a rural property in the East Coulee area, where Ian spent many years, and developed a love of hunting. He would remain a resident of the Drumheller area for the rest of his life, almost 40 years.
Upon graduating from Drumheller Composite High School in 1978, Ian took on a number of different jobs through the years, until finally getting formal mechanics training and obtaining certification through Olds College and SAIT. He joined the Town of Drumheller’s Public Works department in 2015, as a mechanic, and acquired a property in Munson in 1993, where he lived until his hospitalization in January 2021: he remained in hospital/long-term care, from January until his passing.
In addition to hunting, Ian enjoyed cars and trucks, playing pool (and travelling with his “team” to international pool tournaments in Las Vegas on a regular basis), and of course, his two dogs. In his earlier year, Ian was active in Sea Cadets, and in 1974, was fortunate to be selected to spend time on a Canadian naval ship at sea.
Ian is survived by his sister Joan Middlestead (Terry), brothers Clive, Martin (Kelley), and Eric (Sharon), nieces Robyn Yon (Levon), Blaire Buckley, and nephew Wade Buckley (Alyson Coleman). Ian was predeceased by his father Rupert (2009) and mother Edith (2016).
As per Ian’s wishes, there will not be a funeral/service.
His family will gather in the spring/summer of 2022 for a private memorial, followed by the scattering of his ashes at a yet-to-be-confirmed location. Those wishing to make a contribution in Ian’s memory are respectfully asked to donate to the Drumheller & District Humane Society, in recognition of Ian’s love of dogs.
Although his siblings will miss him, we take comfort in knowing that Ian has been reunited with Mom and Dad in the hereafter.

July 9, 1933 - October 12, 2021

Vera, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, passed away at age 87 years in Red Deer, Ab. Born in Drumheller, she was raised on the farm east of Morrin, with parents Percy and Nellie Robinson and 6 siblings. Vera married Earl See in 1956. They had 3 sons and 1 daughter. In 1967 Earl passed away leaving her to raise their young family. She moved her children to Red Deer and took up doing what she loved, nursing, to support her family.
Vera is survived by her children, David, Alvin (Cindi), Susan (Gerald) Lawrence, and Brian (Donna), 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. As well as her sister Marguerite and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family gathering in her honour at a later date.
