NELSON
Maureen Alice
1926 - 2021
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maureen Nelson of Trochu, Alberta.
Maureen passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, October 29, 2021, at the age of 95 years.
Maureen grew up living in several towns in Alberta as her father pursued his career with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Maureen graduated high school and began her short career in banking. It was here that she met her future husband, the love of her life James C. Nelson.
Jim and Maureen were married June 10, 1950. They made their home on the family farm at Rumsey for 58 years. Maureen enjoyed all the community had to offer: Two Valley View Birthday Club, Rumsey Birthday Club, Curling, and the Rumsey Drop-in Center. In later years they spent many winters in Arizona enjoying the company of family and friends. Maureen and Jim raised their five children
on the farm. They moved to Trochu in 2007. Maureen embraced life in town joining the Drop-in Centre and making many friends. In 2016 Jim and Maureen moved to the Chateau in Three Hills residing there until 2019 when they moved to St. Mary’s Lodge in Trochu.
Maureen was happiest when surrounded by her family and never missed a birthday or opportunity to connect with them.
