KIEMELE
Lois Katherine
December 17, 1933 - March 10, 2022
Lois Katherine Kiemele passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the age of 88 in Drumheller surrounded by her family. Lois was born in Majorville, Alberta on December 17th, 1933 to her parents Sandy and Marion Henry, followed by her two brothers Bruce and Gene. After graduating from high school in the Milo-Majorville area, she met her soon-to-be husband Edward (Ted) Arthur Kiemele and they married in December 1952.
Rod, their first son, was born while living in Milo, after which the happy couple moved to Morrin, where they expanded their family with the arrival of Ron. After a few years, they moved to a farm east of Rumsey which became their forever home, and where they completed their family with the arrival of Lance and their daughter, Dianna.
Lois loved her life on the farm, surrounded by family and the prairies. Lois’s interests included sewing, knitting, needlework, and growing plants (especially cacti). She invested back into the community as a 4-H leader for many years and was involved in the Garden Club and Arts & Craft Show. Her family and legacy expanded to include nine grandchildren whom she endlessly supported in their lives, and she cherished the arrival of her great grandchildren as well. In later years, Lois’s home was always open to the family, who all loved to stop in for coffee and long conversations about the weather, farming and life. She is survived by her four children, Rod (Marj) and their children - Wade & Jana (Dan); Ron (Leone) - Logan (Lee); Lance (Kendra) - Matt (Shelby), Jon (Amy), Noel (Hanna) and Dianna (Phil) – Heather (Guy), Holly (Sam), Amber (John) along with her brother Bruce (Carol) as well as her five great grandchildren Taya, Brynn and Ellery Kiemele and Kennedy & Evelyn Clark. Besides her loving husband Ted, Lois was predeceased by her parents and her brother Gene (Marilyn). She left a legacy of love behind her and will be fondly remembered by her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 16 at Rumsey Cemetery. Special thanks to the amazing staff in Coalbanks and the Acute Care Department in Drumheller. Those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Drumheller Area Health Foundation, 351 9 St NW, Drumheller, AB, T0J 0Y1.
