DEAL
Addie
(nee Deptuck)

June 11, 1948 - May 20, 2023

Addie Deal, of Rosedale, AB, beloved wife of Chuck Deal, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on May 20th. Born Delphine Deptuck in Saskatoon, SK, she was given the nickname of Adeline as a child and it soon stuck. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Chuck, her daughter, Christine Ewing (Curtis), grandsons Brody and Duncan Ewing as well as step-children, Chuck Jr. (Becky), Karen (Steve) and their children and grandchildren; all of whom Addie loved as her own. Addie was predeceased by her daughter, Angela (2009), her parents, Frances (2010) and Ezdore (1994) and her brother, Edward (1971). The family moved to East Coulee in 1949 where Addie attended grade school before finishing in Drumheller in 1966. She moved to Calgary where, at the age of 21, she met her best friend and soul-mate, Chuck. They married in March of 1970 and their first daughter, Angela was born that same year followed by Christine in 1973. Chuck and Addie raised their family in rural Alberta communities such as Trochu and Carbon but returned to Drumheller shortly after the birth of their beloved grandsons, Brody and Duncan. Addie could often be seen with the boys in the stroller or a wagon and, later, at football games and awards ceremonies. Addie worked at Freson Bros for 12 years, retiring in 2019; her friendly smile and efficient manner was always appreciated by customers. Addie loved the outdoors and you could often find her and Chuck camping and hiking. She was a voracious reader and a lover of trivia, philosophy and history. She will be dearly missed for her kindness, gentle manner and quick wit.
A graveside service will be held at the Drumheller Cemetery on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 1:30 P.M. with a luncheon to follow at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church Hall, the family invites everyone to come and share their memories.

The Measure of Man
Not – “how did he die”
But – “how did he live”
Not – “what did he gain”
But – “what did he give”
These are the units
To measure the worth
Of a man as a man,
regardless of birth.
