Condolences to the family of Ronald Gordon Culshaw

Ron was born in Drumheller on January 12, 1948. He married his childhood sweetheart Linda in 1968 and they moved to Calgary in 1969 where they raised 3 children, John Culshaw, Kathy Culshaw and Rob Culshaw. Ron took his schooling in Drumheller and received a Masters in Sheet Metal from SAIT in 1970. While in Calgary Ron worked for several heating outfits as well as ATCO for a few years and spent his leisure time coaching hockey, baseball and a senior girl’s softball team. Once their children were grown, Ron and Linda returned to Drumheller where Ron was employed with Hi-Lite Exteriors until he retired in 2017. Luckily Ron took up golfing in his later years and gladly spent as much time as he could on the local course as well as various courses around Alberta.
Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda, son John (Lorna), daughter Kathy (Ken) son Rob (Debbie), brother Keith (Joyce), 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ron was predeceased by his father, John Culshaw in 1959, his step-father Arthur Townsend in 1994, mother Doris Townsend in 2016, sister Doreen Nytchay in February 2023 as well as sisters-in-law Shirley Scott and Linda Scott, brothers-in-law Jim Scott and Donald Senior. He was also predeceased by his father and mother-in-law John and Anna Scott and nephew Kim Nytchay.
Ron’s family would like to thank the prompt response of the local EMS, Drumheller Fire Department, RCMP and the ambulance team out of Three Hills. A special thank you to Auntie Pat for her assistance in our time of need.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Midland Hall. If friends so desire, donations may be made in his honor to the Cancer Society of Alberta or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Courtney Winters are entrusted with arrangements and the family would like to thank them and especially Sean Grande for his kind care and assistance.

Ethel Margaret Day of Drumheller, Jeff’s beloved wife and partner of 72 years passed away on September 11, 2023 just 6 days short of her 94th birthday.
Lovingly remembered by daughter Suzanne (Terry) Vermunt, son Francis; three grandchildren - Alexandra (Jim) Martin, Joanne Vermunt, and Jon (Arne) Vermunt; 2 great grandchildren - Mitchell Vermunt and Stevie Vermunt and 1 great, great-granddaughter, Casey.
Ethel grew up in rural Somerset England during the second world war. She volunteered in the post-war British Army before marrying Jeff in 1951.
Jeff and Ethel arrived in Canada in 1958 and started their own construction company.
Ethel worked her life as a skilled construction labourer alongside Jeff. She could singlehandedly shingle a roof or frame up a wall, and handled the company logistics.
At home, Ethel was an accomplished seamstress. She made countless quilts for family, friends and donation to women’s shelters. She completed in excess of seventy cross-stitched pictures which adorn our walls as dearly treasured keepsakes.
Wife, Mum, Nanny and Gran-nan- always loved and never forgotten.

Condolences to the family of Timothy Raymond Harty

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Timothy Raymond Harty on August 22, 2023 at the age of sixty-eight. Tim was born in Lethbridge and was surrounded by a close and loving extended family. The family moved to Rumsey when he was a young boy, but eventually, Red Deer became his home. Tim’s outgoing personality allowed him to make many life-long friends wherever he lived or travelled. Tim had many interests and his employment reflected this. He worked on the oil rigs for a couple of summers, then decided to attend the SAIT Culinary program. He then moved on to A.G.T/ Telus for over twelve years, owned his own Eavestroughing company, and for the last six years he worked for the Commissionaires in Red Deer. Tim loved to travel and explore and if he did not have a means of transportation, he had no issues with going to the highway and hitching a ride. Tim had a good heart and was very friendly to everyone. He volunteered at the Mustard Seed, giving assistance in many ways, and was willing to help anyone who was down on their luck. He was predeceased by both of his parents, Ben and Margaret Harty, and his niece Chelsea-Serpentini Harty. Tim is survived by his brothers and sister, Terry (Toni) Harty, Jordan Harty, Jocelyn (Dean) Will, Mitch (Jen) Harty, and many nieces and nephews. Church services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (6 McMillan Avenue Red Deer, AB, T4N 5X8) on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 at 11:00 am. A gathering in the church hall to follow. If anyone wishes to donate in memory of Tim, we ask that it be to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Mustard Seed.
