The Village of Morrin has a history of 95 years and this summer it is inviting old and new residents to come out and celebrate.
    It has been 10 years since the last Village of Morrin homecoming and chair of the organizing committee Sharon White says everything is coming together.
 “More and more people are preregistering, which is great, said White.
    She adds that it is important to register as soon as possible to guarantee a seat at the Saturday night supper. Registration is available by going to www.morrinhomecoming.com
    The committee has been working hard to put together an event for all ages. The Homecoming is slated for August 7, 8 and 9.
 On Friday night, there will be  registration along with a  campfire meet and greet with Rowley band Norton and the Nerds at the Morrin Arena.
 On Saturday, breakfast is served from 8:00 - 10:30 a.m. at the Community Hall. The Parade starts at 11:00  a.m. and after that, all kinds of family activities dominate the day, including a Kids Zone, an Amazing Race Competition and the Morrin Firefighters will be hosting  “Fireball Competition.”
    The oven at the Morrin Sod House will be cranked up and baking fresh bread throughout the afternoon. There will also be a concession and beer garden throughout the day. A ball tournament is being organized for Saturday and Sunday.
    Supper is at the Community Hall from 5-7 p.m., and then participants have two choices to dance into the night. There will be an Old Time dance at the Morrin Community Hall starting at 9 p.m. The Arena will also have entrainment with Bradley Abel. Now based in Red Deer, the alt/folk artist has been building a resume playing in the area.
    Fireworks will be held at 11 p.m.
    Breakfast will be served Sunday morning to start a laid back day of visiting at the arena. There will be a church service at 11 a.m. and the ball tournament wraps up in the afternoon.

The Drumheller and District Chamber of Commerce and the Drumheller Sub Local of the Alberta Teachers’ Association will host a Political Candidates’ Forum on Tuesday, April 28 at the Badlands Community Facility for candidates running in the Drumheller-Stettler electoral division. Doors will open to the public at 6:30 p.m. with the forum commencing at 7:00 p.m. sharp.

The invited candidates, in alphabetical order, are: Jack Hayden (Progressive Conservative Party), Emily Shannon (New Democratic Party), and Rick Strankman (Wildrose Party). Candidates will each have the opportunity to introduce themselves and present their party platform followed by a question and answer period.

The forum will provide a great opportunity to hear from the candidates looking for your vote on Election Day, Tuesday, May 5.
