Hope College welcomes Class of 2015

It was a historical day for Drumheller’s Hope College as it watched its inaugural class convocate.
    Thursday, April 30 was graduation day at Hope College. Four students became the Class of 2015.
    “This is a milestone for the students and it is a milestone for us as a school,” said Hope College President Jon Ohlhauser.  “You (the students) are the first to cross the line, you are the first to entrust us with your education.”
    Michael Fletcher emceed the ceremony, and broadcaster Darryl Janz was the special guest who addressed the students.
 Jatinder Singh graduated from the Business Program, Bailey Faubion graduated from the Tourism Program and Hannah Padilla and Mckenna Hawkins graduated from the Justice Program.


RCMP seek suspect in Extra Foods break and enter

On 2015-04-28 between 2:30 AM and 3:00 AM a suspect broke into the Drumheller Extra Foods by smashing a window.  The suspect targeted prescription medications from the Pharmacy.
 
The suspect was wearing tan colored pants, dark brown shoes, a black hoodie with white logos on the sleeve, breast and back.  The suspect was using an axe or similar tool during the break in.
 
The investigation is continuing.

Suspicious person call leads to two arrests, over 20 charges

Beiseker, Alberta – On April 29th, 2015 at approximately 8:00 am, Beiseker RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle and person on Range Road 274 south of Highway 72.

Police checks on the vehicle revealed it was stolen, and when the responding officer attempted to arrest the male, the male attempted to deploy bear-spray at the member and ran away.

The officer followed the male to a nearby vehicle, which the male subsequently stole and fled with.

With the assistance of Airdrie Rural RCMP, Airdrie Integrated Traffic Unit and RCMP Police Dog Services the male was located in an oilfield site a short distance away. The male surrendered to police after discovery by the police dog.

Chad IRELAND, 30, of Calgary was arrested and charged with 19 charges including Resist Police, Assault Police with Weapon, Posses Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Identity Fraud, Posses Counterfeit Money, Break and Enter, Theft of Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.00 and Breach of Conditions.

A 27 year old female from Calgary was located and arrested in Irricana for Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.00, Identity Theft, Possession of Break and Enter Tools. The female with be in Airdrie Provincial Court on July 2nd, 2015.

No one was injured during this event.

Beiseker RCMP would like to thank the public for reporting suspicious activity, which lead directly to the arrest of both suspects.
