The Drumheller Fire Department, EMS and RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision at about 6:30. Monday evening. It appears the vehicle was south bound on 5th Street East when it collided with a light post. There is no information on injuries sustained. Firefighters ensured the vehicle was safe and rerouted traffic while the scene was cleared.
A spade cut into the ground in Monday afternoon, officially beginning construction on the Munson Community hall.
Years of hard work by the Munson and Area Community Association put them in the position to begin construction this summer. The planned hall has a price tag of about $1 million and is approximately 5,200 square feet. It includes seating for 250, a stage and a full commercial kitchen.
The hall has enjoyed tremendous support from community members. It was also the recipient of the UFA Get and Give Contest where it earned $50,00 for the project. Farm Credit Canada, as well as Starland County and the Village of Munson were also great contributors.
They have contracted Greene Construction of Drumheller to complete the project and are hoping to have a grand opening this coming spring.
The inaugural World Religions Conference is underway at the BCF Saturday afternoon. Maulan Taha Syed, representing Islam and Jonathan Taylor, representing Christianity discussed freedom of religion in an open and responsive forum. Councillor Sharel Shoff moderated the forum.
