Drumheller RCMP lay charges in residential break and enter

On March 29, 2019, Drumheller RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter to a residence in which multiple firearms were stolen.
The investigation determined the break and enter occurred in the early hours of March 28, 2019 in the Newcastle area of Drumheller where three firearms, fuel cards, and Canadian currency were stolen.
None of the firearms have been recovered to date.
As a result of the 22-month investigation, Brian Douglas McHugh, 52, of Drumheller, has been charged with break and enter to a residence, and break and enter to steal firearms.
McHugh is in custody will appear in provincial court in Drumheller on Friday, January 21.


Former Flood Mitigation project manager files suit

The Drumheller Mail has learned former Flood Mitigation project manager Darwin Durnie has filed a statement of claim against the Town of Drumheller and a second defendant, 878947 Alberta Ltd, according to the Business Prospects report, which is a monthly publication announcing legal action and building permits in Southern Alberta.
The suit was filed on Tuesday, January 11 according to the report in the amount of $168,000.

Drumheller Rotary Club rewards hard working student

Jayden Lepine, a Grade 12 student at DVSS was selected as the Drumheller Rotary Club’s Student of the month for December. Jayden has been nominated by her teachers for her academic achievement. She is a hard working student and participates in various volunteering opportunities such as, the Seniors Christmas Dinner, planning and participating in the school’s Remembrance Day Ceremony, supporting the special needs program at Greentree School, as well as dinosaur painting over the summer. Vice Principal Brad Teske and Rotarian Barb Campbell are pictured presenting Jayden with her package. This package contains a $25 gift certificate from Riverside Value Drug Mart, a movie pass from Napier Theatre, a free pizza and soft drink from Boston Pizza and a $25 cheque and certificate from the Rotary Club.
