Fatality results from collision on Highway 10

accident.jpgA two vehicle collision on Highway 10 last Monday, took the life of 57 year old Don Turner of Rosedale.
    Mr. Turner was airlifted to Calgary by STARS from the Drumheller Health Centre, but succumbed to his injuries.
    On December 29 shortly after noon, the collision occurred on Highway 10 about 2 kilometres west of Rosedale.
    According to a witness account, a Chrysler Sebring travelling east began to spin out of control and struck a Dodge truck that was west bound. The driver of the truck made an attempt to avoid the collision, but was unsuccessful.
    The Drumheller Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver of the Sebring.  Both the drivers were transported to the Drumheller Health Centre.
    According to a police press release, the road conditions at the time of the accident were extremely icy.



DCHS modernization project goes to tenders

Golden Hills School Division (GHSD) has a simple wish for the holiday season; a competitive number of bids for the Drumhller Composite High School modernization and renovation project.
    On December 9 the school division made documents for tender for the approximately $18 million renovation, available to bidders. Principal Tom Zariski says they are excited the plans are at the stage for contractors to bid.



Community facility tops list of '08 news stories

2008 has been an exciting year for the valley. This community has seen everything from the burning of the school that saw hundreds of Drumhellerites through their formative years, to the community’s lobbying for new school facilities pay off.  It was an emotional year with loss and victory. The Mail has compiled a list of some of the most important news stories we have covered for the community.
