Vehicles recovered, male arrested after search warrant execution in Rockyford

Members of the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit (SACRU), along with assistance from Strathmore RCMP, executed a search warrant on a property in the Village of Rockyford on Thursday, January 5.
A male was arrested and a number of items were recovered by RCMP.
Among the items recovered included four stolen vehicles--a 2017 Honda Civic, a 2020 Hyundai Elantra, a 2007 Ford F-550, and a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado--a 2009 Heartland Big Country RV trailer, stolen license plates, 25 grams of suspected fentanyl and 10 grams of suspected methamphetamine, stolen identification documents, and office equipment used to create fraudulent identification and financial cards.
Jason Lazette, 46, a resident of Rockyford, was arrested on the property and has been charged with 27 charges, including five counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000; two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000; two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking; eight counts of obtain/possess identity information; possess a prohibited firearm; four counts of fail to comply with a release order.
After a judicial interim hearing, Laxette was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Strathmore on Tuesday, January 17.

Boston Pizza Heart campaign turns 30

A few businesses throughout Drumheller received a special delivery on Monday, January 9. The folks from Boston Pizza were out delivering their heart-shaped pizza reminding residents of the popular Valentine’s Day campaign by the restaurant. Boston Pizza is celebrating 30 years of the Paper Heart campaign, and to celebrate, the local restaurant is dedicating 100 per cent of funds raised to Greentree School. $1 from every pizza sold, including heart-shaped pizza and Chocolate Explosion Cheesecake on Tuesday, February 14 will go to the cause. Additionally, patrons can purchase a paper heart during dine-in or a digital heart online to support the cause. Those who donate by buying a paper heart will be entered to win two tickets to see the New York Rangers and the Calgary Flames on February 18. Fire department investigates gas odour

42006F8D F351 4DEF 97EF C6172156C4B9The Drumheller Fire Department responded to a call of a gas smell at the Ramada in Drumheller shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday January 21. The hotel was evacuated for a short time while it was investigated. Patrons were allowed to return to the facility in less than an hour.
