Fatal ATV rollover near Byemoor

On Saturday, January 24th, 2015, at about 9:30 pm, Drumheller, Hanna, and Stettler RCMP responded to an ATV rollover at a rural location near the community of Byemoor.  The driver of the vehicle was attempting to navigate a steep embankment when the quad flipped backwards, throwing the female passenger and landing on top of the male driver.  The driver, a 43 year old male from Byemoor, sustained fatal injuries.  The passenger, a 33 year old female from Red Deer, received minor injuries and was transported to Stettler Hospital by Stettler EMS.  Neither driver nor passenger were wearing helmets, and alcohol is not suspected. The names of the persons involved are not being released.

Dragons take shootout win over Bonnyville Pontiacs Sunday afternoon

The Drumheller Dragons went home from the north with two wins this weekend after taking a 3-2 shootout win over the Bonnyville Pontiacs Sunday afternoon. 
The Dragons first goal was scored at 6:49 of the second period by Connor Boyd to tie the game at one. 
Bonnyville scored just under two minutes later to take a lead before the Dragons Mitchell Cook scored the tie goal forcing overtime and a shootout. It was Wyatt Noskey that scored the shootout winning goal. 
The Dragons will now have the week off before hosting the Olds Grizzlys in the first of a home-and-home series played Friday and Saturday nights. The game Friday night is set to start at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Arena. 
 
 

Dragons take a win in the first of two north road trip games this weekend

The Drumheller Dragons secured a win over the Fort McMurray Oil Barons Saturday night.
The Dragons' Scott Ivey opened scoring at 3:02 of the first period. The Oil Barons tied it up early in the second, but the Dragons’ Clint Filbrandt gave the Dragons the lead once again towards the end of that period on the power play. 
Dakota Zaharichuk gave the Dragons the third goal, the game winner, on the power play at 9:56 of the third period. The Oil Barons scored one more goal just over half way through the third making the final score 3-2 Dragons. 
The Dragons now head to Bonnyville to face the Pontiacs, Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
