DSC 0543

Rumsey Ride for STARS officially reached its $1 million goal during the 34th annual Ride on Sunday, August 13. To commemorate the momentous milestone, STARS Air Ambulance pilot Christ Bergren (centre) and flight nurse Stuart Grant made the approximate 28-minute flight from Calgary to Rumsey to celebrate, and were guided in by members of the Rumsey Fire Department. Event goers got an up-close and personal look at one of the STARS Air Ambulance helicopters, and got an in depth briefing on some of the medical equipment on board to care for those in critical need. The Rumsey Ride was able to raise a total of $1,015,910.09 as of Tuesday, August 15 after figures for the beef dinner and silent auction were calculated, with more donations still expected to come in.

The Pioneer Trail Senior Centre has, for five decades, been a place for senior members of the community to gather for fun and camaraderie. Over the years, they have done much good for the community, supporting each other and have made literally miles of quilts for different causes. On Thursday, August 3, Pioneer Trail Centre celebrated its 50th anniversary and invited its members and the community to make the occasion. At the celebration are the executive (l-r) Alvin Will, Maria Gammie, Barb Davidson, Lylia Fuller and Barry Fullerton.

IMG 9399

After 22 years, it is still not entirely clear where the Lost Egg comes from or where to find it. Nonetheless, the disc golf tournament has grown from humble beginnings to a premier event on the calendar for disc golfers from all over. This year the ranks swelled to over 150 players from the beginner to the pros, to play the challenging Wayne Disc Golf Course. After a late start because of treacherous conditions caused by an overnight rainfall, the tournament went off without a hitch.
