Hanna RCMP investigate copper wire theft

IMG 4268

On December 29, 2019 between 2:00 AM and 8:00 AM thieves entered a commercial site in the Pollockville area and stole approximately 100' to 200' of copper wire.

Police say Thieves target these commercial sites to steal batteries and copper wire which is then converted to cash through recycling.  The batteries and copper are difficult to track which make it a lucrative commodity for thieves.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Hanna RCMP administrative line at (403)854-3393.  Tips can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers who pays cash rewards for information that leads to the arrest of a suspect.

The RCMP is asking the public to report all suspicious activity and provide as much detail about the activity as possible.  Never put yourself in jeopardy to obtain information about suspicious activity and never approach or pursue alleged suspects.

In a holiday tradition, St. Anthony’s School hosted its annual alumni games on Thursday, December 19. They invited former players back to play versus the current teams for an evening of fun and camaraderie. The St. Anthony’s junior varsity girls team, above, played well but the alumni won by a single point, while on the men’s side, the young legs of the current St. Anthony’s team bested the alumni.
