Golf club entertains second offer

Dinosaur Trail Golf and Country Club has scheduled an Extra Special Shareholders Meeting to entertain another offer to purchase the course.

This comes after a previous attempt to sell the course to a Vancouver based investor fell through last year.

Golf Club president Mike Yavis said there is a possibility of three different resolutions to be passed, the first would be an offer to purchase.

“If this deal is to the point that it is unconditional and can be ratified, the shareholders can ratify it. If that happens, there will still be a second question called which will allow the board, at their discretion, to wrap up the corporation at the close of the sale,” Yavis told the Mail. “If the offer falls through or cannot be done, the third question they will ask, is at the discretion of the board to declare bankruptcy.”

“We are flat out of money, and the longer we wait the less time the bank will have to find another suitor.”

He said the offer is coming from local interests.

The meeting is on Tuesday, January 28 at the Dinosaur Trail clubhouse house at 7 p.m.

“We have an offer, and possibly a second offer by the 28th,” said Yavis.

Bernie Germain wins McLaren Supercar

Bernie Germain already has a pretty cool whip with his uniquely chopped 1954 Chevy Belair, but he is going to have to make room in his garage for a supercar.

Germain won a 2019 McLaren 720S in a draw Sunday, January 5. This was through the win a Dream Car Raffle at West Edmonton Mall.

“Sunday night was a pretty tough sleep because I found out just after 5 p.m., and I think I managed to fall asleep around 4 a.m. for a couple of hours,” he laughs.

He bought his ticket just the day after Boxing Day, and since then had been daydreaming about the possibility of winning, right up until Sunday afternoon when he was on his way back from Canadian Tire, picking up supplies to do an oil change on his wife’s car.

“I said ‘it would be pretty cool if I won that Maserati.’” To which his wife Carol corrected him,” it’s not a Maserati, it’s a McLaren.”

A couple of hours later his ticket was picked.

The McLaren 720S is a true supercar with a twin-turbo V8 with more than 700 horsepower and a 0-60 mph speed of 2.39 seconds. It has a value of over $430,000.

The raffle is in benefit of the Universal Educational Institute of Canada and the Canadian Digestive Health Foundation.
