Drumheller and District 4-H brings out bidders

The Drumheller and District 4-H Club held its annual Show and Sale on Monday, June 5 at the Delia Arena. There were 14 steers from the Delia and Rumsey Beef Clubs in the auction, as well as four market lambs.
Jacob Sengaus raised the Grand Champion steer, weighing in at 1,358 pounds. He sold it to Drumheller Chrysler for $8.25 per pound. Murray Moench was the proud bidder.

The Reserve Champion, a 1,477-pound steer raised by Elli-Anna McDougald was purchased by Western GM Drumheller for $6.50 per pound. Doug Lubinkski was the top bidder.

The Grand Champion Market Lamb at the Drumheller and District 4-H Show and sale was raised by Mykaela Gulberg and was sold to Trochu Motors for $14 per pound with Jack Stankievech doing the bidding.

The Reserve Champion Market Steer was raised by Ayla Hache. It was purchased by Barney’s Adventure Park for $15 per pound, and will be a part of its herd this summer. Dustin Edwards did the bidding.


Top bids at Hussar Show and Sale

The Hussar 4-H Beef Club Show and Sale was another great success with incredible results and some fine Alberta Beef in the auction ring. The Show and Sale was on Tuesday, May 30, and they saw 14 animals shown and sold including a charity calf raised to support the Thew family; Mitchell Thew was diagnosed in March with liver failure and was fortunate enough to have the procedure, though he still faces a long recovery. The fundraising steer was auctioned off three times and in total raised $29,480 for the family.
The Grand Champion was a 1,200-pound Charolais raised by Lylah Hoff, and it was sold to Dallas Dundas and Shane Noble of Suede Energy.

The Reserve Champion was a 1,126-pound Charolais raised by Grady Hoff and was sold to Sunrise Auto Sales for $6.50 per pound. Robert Hoff did the bidding.

Congratulations Wheatland Crossing School Class of 2023

Wheatland Crossing Class of 2023 held its convocation ceremony on the evening of Friday, May 26. Graduating Grade 12 students crossed the stage to collect their diplomas in front of an audience of parents, teachers, and other well wishers, followed by their grad dance and celebrations.
