Salvation Army fundraises to send kids to camp

The Salvation Army held fundraisers on Friday, June 9 to help send kids to The Salvation Army’s Holiday and Teen camps, which are being held in August this year. Members of The Salvation Army made an appearance at the Drumheller McDonald’s in the morning with BrokerLink and Boom 99.5 on site, and held a barbecue lunch by donation at Freson Bros. in the afternoon. Funds raised during the event will help to send children in need to summer camp programs. During the morning event, a total of $358 was raised, and an additional $1,147 was collected in the donation bubble during the afternoon barbecue; an additional donation of $680 was dropped off after the fundraiser, bringing the total raised from kettle donations to $2,185. The barbecue fundraiser at Freson Bros. also helped raise $793, which will help send some 20 children to the holiday and teen camps.


Hanna RCMP investigate several grass fires

Hanna RCMP are investigating after several grass fires appear to have been intentionally set along a section of Highway 9.
On Wednesday, June 21 at 6:39 p.m., Hanna RCMP responded to reports of multiple grass fires along Highway 9, between Hanna and Youngstown. It is believed the fires were intentionally set and are similar in nature to multiple grass fires that occurred along Highway 9, west of the community of Craigmyle on Tuesday, June 13.
Hanna RCMP are seeking any witnesses to the June 21 incident, as well as any potential dashboard camera footage during that time. If you observed any person(s) or vehicles stopped in the area between Hanna and Youngstown that you believe may be involved in this incident, please contact the Hanna RCMP at 403-854-3393.
As the suspect involved in this incident is still at large, the RCMP are asking for the public to be alert for suspicious activity in this area going forward, and to call 911 if you believe a criminal incident is in progress. A description of any suspect(s) or vehicle, including license plates, would be of assistance in this investigation.

Collision near Linden sends two children to hospital

The three-year-old child involved in the serious motor vehicle collision between an ATV and pick up truck has succumbed to her injuries. She passed away in hospital on Thursday, June 20. The 10-year-old has been released from hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.

Our thoughts remain with the family, and the community that are affected by this tragic incident.

 

Two children have been taken to hospital after receiving life-threatening injuries in a collision between an off-highway vehicle and a truck.
On Saturday, June 17 at 2:34 p.m., Airdrie RCMP received a report of a serious injury collision between a motor vehicle and an off-highway vehicle on Range Road 252, south of Township Road 310 near Linden.
Upon arrival, emergency responders treated the two occupants of the OHV who have been identified as 10-year-old and 3-year-old girls. Both girls were taken to hospital and remain in serious life-threatening condition.
The driver of the pickup was uninjured.
RCMP had Range Road 252 blocked for several hours while they investigated the collision.
Although early in the investigation, RCMP believes the OHV entered the roadway from a rural residential driveway when it was struck by the passing pickup.
