Bad Santa

Court House 2

A man who robbed Ware’s Jewelry in Stettler on Christmas Eve, 2015, in a Santa Suit, has been sentenced to more than three years in jail.

In September 2016, 31-year-old Shaw Steier was charged. Following his guilty plea last week, he was sentenced to over three years in custody, as well as a lifetime firearm prohibition, and was ordered to pay restitution and a fine.

“This means I go to nationals for a week in July,” she said.
She says the experience in Calgary was like a boot camp, and in just a few short days, they were pageant ready, and helped to build their confidence.
“It taught us to love ourselves, no matter what size we are some of it was nerve wracking, but you realize that you are all there to make a difference, and that’s what you are there for,” she said.
In the competition, they are judged on an interview, a swimsuit, photogenic, and formal gown. They were all also part of an opening group dance number for the competition.
From the regional contest, Sharrun was one of eight selected to the Miss World Canada Competition on July 16-23. This contest selects the Canadian representative for the international Miss World competition.
While it is a great accomplishment just to make it this far, Sharrun is dedicated to having a good showing at the competition.  She is working at getting more comfortable in front of a camera and other skills that she wants to improve to be a success at the next level.

To compete at the national level, Sharrun is undertaking some fundraising efforts, including a bottle drive March 24-26 and then a silent auction on April 1 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Badlands Community Facility.
