In a holiday tradition, St. Anthony’s School hosted its annual alumni games on Thursday, December 19. They invited former players back to play versus the current teams for an evening of fun and camaraderie. The St. Anthony’s junior varsity girls team, above, played well but the alumni won by a single point, while on the men’s side, the young legs of the current St. Anthony’s team bested the alumni.

CourtHouse1

A Trochu man arrested in downtown Drumheller with an arsenal of guns, drugs and stolen property in was sentenced to four years in jail.
Tyson McDonald-Sherba, 24, pleaded guilty to several charges stemming from his arrest on October 11 in downtown Drumheller. On that day, Drumheller RCMP were investigating a complaint from a resident regarding a suspicious vehicle. Later that same day, police located a green 2004 Audi wagon on 3rd Avenue in Downtown Drumheller. Investigation determined the license plate on the vehicle was not a match and had been stolen.
A female passenger was exiting a nearby business, and police entered the business to look for the male driver of the vehicle. He attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended.
When he was arrested McDonald-Sherba was in possession of a substantial amount of cash and a loaded handgun. Police determined this firearm had been stolen.
The vehicle was seized and on the next day police executed a search warrant and they discovered another stolen license plate, Methamphetamine, and suspected GHB liquid. Police also seized an additional three revolvers and a pistol, with corresponding ammunition. One of these guns was reported stolen from Saskatchewan.
McDonald-Sherba pleaded guilty to possession of Methamphetamine for the purposes of trafficking, possession of a loaded handgun, not having a license to possess this gun, possession of property obtained by crime, obstruction and three breaches of conditions.
He was sentenced to a global sentence of four years in custody, getting credit for pre-trial custody.
April Margaret Couturier, 32, of Drumheller also has charges stemming from this incident, that have not been resolved.

Still got hops

On Friday, December 20, more than 40 former Dynos returned to DVSS for its alumni games. In all, there were three games featuring the current boys and girls teams as well as players of yesteryear. And while they are a little older, they still got a lot of game left, as proven by this clash between Tyler Fournier, right, and Alex Cliche.
