In early August 2021, Drumheller RCMP received reports of a male videotaping and photographing employees and patrons of a local business.
It is alleged the male was protesting the approval of a permit issued by the town that impacts a local park.
As a result of the investigation, Edmund Almond, 64, from Drumheller has been charged with criminal harassment and mischief under $5,000.
Almond has been released on an undertaking and will be appearing in provincial court in Drumheller on Friday, October 15.
As this matter is now before the courts, no further details will be provided.

The Calgary Police Force and Three Hills RCMP worked together to arrest a man and recover a stolen vehicle.
In the early afternoon of September 12, a Dodge Ram pick-up truck was reported stolen in Camrose.
On Monday, September 13 in the early evening, Calgary Police Service (CPS) HAWCS helicopter located the stolen vehicle in Calgary city limits. The vehicle was followed into Rocky View County, at which point RCMP were notified of the incident.
Upon seeing an RCMP vehicle, the driver of the stolen vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. HAWCS continued to monitor the stolen vehicle for approximately two hours as it travelled through the rural area. The vehicle entered a property in Red Deer County near Elnora.
The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby field when confronted by the homeowner.
Containment in the area was set up by neighbouring RCMP detachments. Three Hills RCMP and RCMP Police Dog Services searched the area for the suspect, however, the male was not located.
At approximately 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 14, the suspect was located in the town of Elnora and was arrested without incident. He was found to also have outstanding warrants for several property-related offences.
Dean Deschover, 29, from Lloydminster, has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, mischief under $5,000, two counts of failing to comply with a release order, driving with no insurance, and operating a motor vehicle without an operator’s licence.
After a judicial hearing, Deschover did not speak to bail and will be appearing in provincial court in Lloydminster on Tuesday, September 21.

Rotary White Elephant sale returns

The Rotary Club of Drumheller’s annual White Elephant sale will return Saturday, October 2 following a brief hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
There will be some changes to the one-day sale this year, including a change of venue to the Drumheller Stampede and Ag Society barn.
“It takes a small village to make it happen,” says White Elephant chairperson Bev Krabsen.
Krabsen shares the Ag Society has been very helpful and generous in providing the location for the sale.
Due to new COVID-19 restrictions there will be a one-third capacity limitation at all times in the barn, and guests are required to wear a mask, sanitize their hands, and maintain two metre distance.
This year the Drumheller Volleyball Club parents and players and Friends of Rotary will be among the volunteers helping with the one-day event.
Krabsen says smaller items for donation can be placed outside the barn starting the week of September 27. Larger items may be arranged for pick-up and volunteers will be masked and use sanitizer prior to entering the home, and will spend as little time as possible in the home while collecting donations.
The Rotary Club will accept a wide variety of items, from furniture and tools, to Christmas decorations, hardware, and sporting goods.
However, there are some items which cannot be accepted, such as cribs, hide-a-beds, and larger, older model televisions. This is due to regulations on these items or lack of interest in previous sales.
Krabsen says items not sold will be donated to the Salvation Army Thrift Store where possible, and Caron’s Waste Management Services are providing recycling and sanitation bins for those items which cannot be donated.
“It’s the ultimate recycling program,” Krabsen says.
The Drumheller Stampede and Ag Society barn will be open to the public starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 2.
Guests are encouraged to bring cash; e-transfer or cheques may be accepted for larger ticket items, however, no debit or credit cards will be accepted.
