General contractor final step for new Morrin School

Following the successful completion of the new Delia School in October 2021, the K-12 Morrin School will be the next Prairie Land School Division (PLSD) school to be built.
In October 2020, Group2 Architecture and Interior Design from Red Deer were announced as the prime consultants on the Morrin School build.
“(PLSD) will be working together with Alberta Education and Alberta Infrastructure in securing a General Contractor shortly after the Christmas break,” says PLSD Superintendent Cam McKeage.

As part of Winterfest, Christmas Around the World was hosted on Saturday, December 4 at the Downtown Plaza. There were brightly decorated Christmas trees celebrating national and international traditions as well as a food festival where attendees could enjoy Indigenous bannock, and butter chicken. A contingent from Africa including (l-r) Shem Mageto, Mikael, Amanda Mageto, Esther Agianaku, and Anthea Maseka were busy serving up puff-puffs, an African sweet, and African tea masala.

Drumheller Dragons continue winning ways

The Dragons picked up four more points last week and are firmly holding on to second place in the Viterra AJHL South Division.
The Dragons hosted the Canmore Eagles on Tuesday, November 30 in front of 383 fans at the Drumheller Memorial Arena.
Sam Lozinski opened the scoring for the Dragons 7:50 into the first period. Myles Hilman and Carter Belitski added a goal each early in the second period. While The Dragons outshot the Eagles 13-4 in the first period, two of those Eagles’ shots found their way into the net as the period ended 3-2 Dragons.
The Dragons poured it on in the third period with Belitski and Lozinski each scoring their second of the game, and one more from Grayson Dietrich as the Dagons went on to a 6-2 win.
On Saturday, December 4, the Dragons were back in the Dragon’s Den to take on the Olds Grizzlys. Van Yuhas scored just 1:06 into the game. The Grizzlys tied it up three minutes into the second but the Dragons went on a tear. Griffin Asham-Moroz started with a goal at the 3:12 mark, with Yuhas adding his second less than five minutes later. Hayden Prososfky added two more and Carter Belitski capped off the second period with a powerplay goal, putting the Dragons up 6-1.
Belitski added his second less than six minutes into the third, and while the Grizzlys added one more, Drumheller went on to a 7-2 victory.
The Dragons are sporting a 19-8-3 record heading into this week.
The Dragons are in Calgary on Tuesday, December 7, to play the Canucks, but are back home December 10 to play Spruce Grove and December 11 to face off against the Sherwood Park Crusaders.
