Federal election imminent

No matter how you slice it, predictions about a fall election are ringing more true by each dispatch from Ottawa.
Prime Minister Steven Harper has publicly said he wants to go to the polls. Meetings with three opposition party leaders resulted in little common ground to prop up the minority government much longer. It appears little can stop Canadians from heading to the polls for the third time in four years.
“Stephane Dion says his plans are to defeat us as soon as we get back to the House,” said Crowfoot MP Kevin Sorenson. “Knowing the Prime Minister, he may not let Dion have his way.”

Western featuring Speedman, Kristofferson to film in valley

While the valley hasn’t seen too many larger productions rolling into town in the last few filming seasons, that changed with the announcement last week the film The Last Rites of Ransom Pride will be filmed in the area.
The western, which features Scott Speedman, who came to attention of audiences in Underworld, as well as country singers Dwight Yoakam, and Kris Kristofferson, confirmed it would be shooting in Alberta.

Tyrrell guides brush up on trivia for CBC

 meganandkevin.jpgTwo members of the education department at the Royal Tyrrell Museum are poised to show the nation their Canadian knowledge on Test the Nation this Sunday night on CBC.

Megan McLaughlin and Kevin Flesher are to appear on the popular seasonal special on CBC called Test the Nation. Previously the show tested IQ, language use, trivia and even sports knowledge. This year the show is called Canada Eh? and it tested knowledge of Canada.
