Chasing Terry’s dream

It was a partially cloudy day as students from St. Anthony’s School raced off from the starting point for the school’s annual Terry Fox Run on Wednesday, September 24. Drumheller Valley Secondary School also held their annual Terry Fox Run Wednesday morning, wrapping up with a barbecue. Schools received a visit from Terry’s older brother Fred earlier in September, who spoke on Terry’s legacy that grew out of his “Marathon of Hope.”

Airdrie Raider’s Head Coach Steve Kemp sent a truckload of hope to Drumheller’s Titans this afternoon.
Raider’s Equipment Manager Greg Vandermeer made the delivery to Titans Field Thursday, September 25, in an R.V. packed with football equipment.
The Airdrie Head Coach is donating the equipment to the Titans for as long as they need it, to replace equipment damaged when the Titans facilities were vandalized overnight September 21.
“Amazing,” sums it up for Senior Titan’s Head Coach Ken Fournier.

Tracker Robinson, Aden Enns, Rhett Duggan, and Eric Seiller excelled when they played for the Raiders this spring. The Raiders are members of the Calgary Midget Football League.

Food for football

A & W Manager Kim McAdam holds a freshly printed poster for the restaurant to let customers know Canalta, the company that runs Drumheller’s A & W, will match dollar-for-dollar donations made to support Drumheller Community Football. This week, Drumheller’s A & W will donate $1 from the sale of every Bacon N’  Egger breakfast sandwich and every Teen Burger, and cardboard cutouts can be purchased at the restaurant. All the funds collected go to support community football. McAdam said after a day-and-a-half, A&W had raised close to $1,000.

A&W is donating the funds after the Football Association’s facilities at DVSS were vandalized sometime Sunday night. People have until the close of A & W’s business day Sunday, September 28 to drop by and help out.
