Beseiker RCMP are investigating the incident near the Acme School playground Thursday, January 22, at lunch.
Beiseker RCMP report the incident involving men exposing their buttocks near the Acme School playground Thursday does not appear to be sexual in nature. Concerned parents were left wondering what happened at Acme school during the lunch hour Thursday, January 22, after an alleged weapons sighting and the principal telling parents there was a lockdown, after young children in the school playground reported three men beside the playground dropping their pants and one of the men making a shooting motion. One of the concerned parents contacted The Mail Friday morning to follow up with on the police investigation. When contacted, Beseiker RCMP had not received a complaint from the school, and dispatched a constable to investigate.
Sergeant Glen Demonn issued a statement to The Mail shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday.
"Beiseker RCMP is investigating a report of young males exposing their buttocks to students of the Acme School during the noon hour on Thursday January 22, 2015."
"Children also reported that one of the males made a shooting gesture," said the Sergeant. "No weapon was observed," although the Sergeant said that was open to interpretation, "however school staff implemented a modified routine for their students while the matter was looked into. All information has been forwarded to police. Incidents of this nature are taken seriously by School Administration and the police. The investigation is continuing."
Golden Hills School Division Superintendant Bevan Daverne said safety of the students is paramount, and at no time were the kids in danger. He said they’re working with the RCMP to follow up and identify the individuals, and wasn't clear on whether alcohol was involved. He said Acme school had locked the front doors for a brief period of time while they were investigating the exposure sightings.
