The entire Town of Drumheller was witness to one of the most daring marriage proposals on Friday, with “the question” sprawled throughout ten locations in the valley.

Mike Gaucher, a correctional officer at the Drumheller Institution, met the love of his life, Lynne Alyward, only seven months ago using an online dating service, but knew she was the one.

He knew it so well that Gaucher used ten advertisement signs on February 13, and displayed the biggest question of both of their lives.

Munson firefighter Dave Vanderkolk pours water on the fire after a barn and corrals south of Delia were destroyed by the blaze Tuesday afternoon. At 1 p.m. on February 17, firefighters were dispatched to a property approximately 10 kilometres south of Delia, and one kilometre east of Highway 851. When they arrived, the barn and corral system on the property of John Roach was completely engulfed by flames. Fire departments on scene included Delia, Drumheller, Michichi and Munson. Badlands EMS and the Drumheller RCMP also attended to the scene. Chris Teichroeb of the Neu Muehl Colony used a loader to abate the spread of flames. At one point, there were concerns about two diesel fuel tanks on the property adjacent to the blaze, however, firefighters were able to control the flames. There were no reported injuries or loss of livestock. The family is thankful for the timely response of emergency services. The cause of the fire, or any estimated value of damages was not known as of press time.
