It won’t be long until there will be some smooth cruising in the Village of Morrin.
This year the village was prepping for a paving project on First Avenue North. Construction is expected to commence this week.
Morrin CAO Annette Plachner tells the Mail that they are working with TJ Paving of Red Deer.
The project includes curb work, paving, and swails. The entire project has a budget of about $210,000.
“It shouldn’t take very long,” said Plachner. “The cement works takes some time and it is dependent on the weather. It takes some time for it to cure.”
She expects the project to be complete in a couple weeks time.
“Once the curb work is done, the paving goes quick.”
On September 23rd, 2017 at 8:23 AM members of the Coronation Detachment responded to a single vehicle roll over on Highway 872 south of Coronation.
The investigation revealed that a south bound SUV rolled several times coming to a stop in the ditch.
The lone driver, a 37 year old male from the Coronation area, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
It is believed that alcohol and not using a seatbelt were factors in this incident.
