Families flock to Trail of Trees

Bodey Morgan, 3 months, and sister Shyla Morgan, 2, get cozy with Santa and Mrs. Claus for a holiday picture during the Trail of Trees event held at the Badlands Community Facility (BCF) on Friday, December 1. The second annual event was filled with lights, decorations, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, and of course, uniquely decorated trees. The trees on display were decorated by local businesses and organizations and will be auctioned off in benefit of  the Drumheller chapter of Jumpstart.


Hanna RCMP seek suspects using stolen credit card

On October 25, 2017, a stolen credit card was used at the EnGaurd PC in Hanna. There were two male and one female suspects involved in this incident. The suspects bought $1,466.10 in merchandise.

The first suspect is described as male, short dark hair, medium complexion, wearing a black and red shirt with striped track pants.

The second suspect is described as male, brown hair that is short on the sides and longer on the top, fair complexion, wearing a long winter coat with fur around the hood and sweat pants.

The third suspect is described as female, longer dark hair pulled up at the back, medium complexion, wearing a track jacket with white stripes down the arms and multi-coloured pants.

All three suspects left the business in a white car with an unknown plate on it.

It is good practice for vendors to ask for photo identification if the customer isn't using the chip / PIN option on their card for large transactions or transactions where the vendor is suspicious.

Information about this crime can be reported to the Hanna RCMP at (403)854-3393. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers.

Hanna Mayor honoured by AUMA

    The hard work of Hanna Mayor Chris Warwick was recognized last week at the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) Convention and was presented the Award of Excellence.
    The AUMA Award of Excellence recognizes outstanding civic leadership by either past or present municipal elected officials who have held office for at least three years in Alberta.
  Warwick has served on Hanna Town Council since 2004, and became mayor in 2013. In 2017 he was acclaimed.
    Through his years of service with the town of Hanna, he has helped to guide the community through times of development and times of challenge.
    Most recently, he has shown leadership as the community finds innovative ways to cope with the transition away from coal-fired generation. He has been active locally working with the community action team and provincially with Advisory Panel on Coal Communities to map out a new direction for the community.
    Warwick was presented the award at the Opening ceremonies of the AUMA conference on November 22.
