One year sentence for break-ins in Carbon, Morrin

One of the four men charged in a late night spree of break-ins in the rural vicinity of Drumheller has been sentenced to one year behind bars.     Phelix Rush-Klevgaard appeared in provincial court in Drumheller on Friday, May 13. He pleaded guilty to two counts of break and entering.
At about 2 a.m. on February 21 in the Village of Carbon, the community centre was broken into. A printer, an electronic card reader and liquor were taken.
A short time later, the Morrin Hotel was broken into and liquor and cigarettes were taken. A member of the public observed the incident and called the RCMP. Police apprehended a vehicle fleeing from Morrin, and noticed some of the stolen items in the car.
Rushh-Klevgaard has been in custody on these charges for three months. He also has a previous related record from 2010.
Judge Gaschler sentenced Rush-Klevgaard to one year consecutive to any other sentence he is currently serving, taking into account the three months he spent behind bars awaiting his plea.
