Christian women in Drumheller are hard at work planning World Day of Prayer 2025, coming Friday, March 7.
This year the parish of St. Anthony's is hosting the annual event, World Day of Prayer is an international, ecumenical movement which enables participants to hear the thoughts of women from all parts of the world: their hopes, concerns and prayers.
This year the Cook Islands are leading the World Day of Prayer, and it reflects on the theme “I made you wonderful.” The scripture base is Psalm 139-verses 1-18.
Much time is taken in the preparation of the event.
It begins with the writing country and theme being chosen years in advance. Once written, the service goes to the World Day of Prayer International Committee in New York for translation and is then is distributed to the National committees in each participating country.
On Wednesday, February 19, the local organizing group gathered at St. Anthony's Hall to work out the details for the event.
World Day of Prayer is celebrated in more than 120 countries and will be marked in Drumheller on March 7.
