How long have you been here? Since August 1.
Where are you from? I lived in Turner Valley for 11 years and I’m originally from Windsor, ON.
How did you get into education? I wanted to be a lawyer, but I decided to get into teaching to pay off my loans and I ended up loving it so much I gave up the lawyer thing.
What are some challenges in education today? It’s based on perspective. Honestly, one of the biggest things is creating a work-life balance. You can drown as a teacher – it’s endless. You need to find a place where you can give your best and if you don’t handle it right you can burn out. I’ve seen a lot of good teachers leave that way.
What do you think of Drumheller so far? I love it but the mosquitoes are horrific this year.
Describe yourself in three words: Just three? Humorous, compassionate, and just open I guess. There are a hundred words I could use.
Favourite movie? A Shine Full of Rainbows. I love stories about someone in a hopeless situation who makes choices to bring hope into their lives.
What three things would you bring to a desert island? An endless supply of fresh water, a banana or coconut picking machine, and my two labs. I don’t like following rules.
Watch sports? I’m a big baseball fan – the Detroit Tigers. Windsor borders Detroit so I used to go to a lot of games there.
Hobbies or interests? I’m a big nerdy reader. I like hiking, hand drawing, and in the winter I knit and snowshoe.
Good book you’ve read recently? I pretty much read a book a day. Right now I’m reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. I like reading sci-fi and dystopian fiction.
Would you survive a zombie apocalypse? Oh yeah. I would get to my friend’s ranch because she’s the warrior and I’m the healer and food person. We’ve discussed that I can’t do the killing – she’ll have to do that part.

How long have you been in Drumheller? 20 years.
What is your favourite thing about living here? It would have to be the sense of community we have here.
What is the funniest thing to happen to you lately? I had my picture taken with Pikachu in a McDonald’s at 2:30 in the morning. That was pretty funny.
If you could invite 4 famous people to dinner who would they be and why? Rachel McAdams, Emma Stone, Jim Carrey, and Robin Williams. I pick them because I feel they are all really genuine and funny. I love to laugh.
Do you have any hidden talents? I can sing! I have been in many performances at the Kaleidoscope Theatre in Drumheller.
What is you favourite TV show? Supernatural.
What is your favourite concert you have been to? Hedley. I have seen them 4 times.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? I have always wanted to go to Italy. I love Italian food.
If you could witness any event in the past, present or future, what would it be? I would have loved to be in the stands when the Team Canada hockey team won the gold medal game in the Olympics.
Do you have any favourite memories? All of my memories of travelling.
What are some words you live by? The past can hurt. You can ether run from it or learn from it.

How long have you been in Drumheller? Since 2007, so nine years.
Where did you move from? New Zealand.
Why did you move? For my lovely Canadian husband. Our families had know each other for years and we met at a family wedding 10 years ago.
What do you think so far? I love Drumheller and Canada.
What is your favourite thing about Drumheller? The openness and fresh air.
What is the best thing about your job? Educating clients and helping them through their needs.
What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done? I went white water rafting once. I also drove a Ferrari on a NASCAR race track in Las Vegas. That was pretty dangerous. I mean, there was a guy next to me who had brakes on his side, but it was still dangerous.
Can you roll your tongue? I can! It is weird becasue a lot of people can’t.
Favourite TV show? I recently found Game of Thrones and I really enjoy it. I am on season three.
Do you have any pets? Yes, I have one yellow lab named Rydr, and a white and apricot coloured Bichon/Shih Tzu named Stella.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Disneyland. I have never been and we are going soon. My three and four year olds are very excited.
What is your perfect pizza? Hawaiian pizza. I love it.
If you were an addition to a crayon box, what colour would you be and why? I would be a robin’s egg blue. A mixture of teal and blue because I have never seen that colour in a box of crayons before.
What are some words you live by? Sometimes knowing what you want makes life a lot easier.
