Who is your employer? Barb Steeves
What do you do there? I work at the East Coulee School Museum and my job is a Heritage Interpreter but we wear a lot of hats. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen cooking and we also give tours. We maintain the building and we do lots of practical, hands on stuff.
What do you like most about your job? Giving tours to people who are interested. I like educating people that want to know.
Where are you from? Originally from Calgary.
How long have you lived here in East Coulee? I’m just here for the summer actually. Otherwise I study in
Nanaimo, B.C.

What brought you here in the first place? I wanted to spend time in the town, it was a good job opportunity, the pay was really nice and the people were nice so it all worked out.
What is your top travel destination? Hong Kong, I’ve been there before and I want to go back.
What would you do there again? I’d probably try and stay on a working visa for five months if I could.
If you could travel through time, when and where would you go visit? There’s some events in the past I’d like to see but more so I’d want to see the future.
Choose one thing to eat for the rest of your life? A really good curry. It has to be really good though.
Do you have any favourite books? Maybe something I’ve read very recently for history would be ‘Rise and Fall of the Third Reich’ by William L. Shirer. It’s about World War II and the German state, so like Nazis basically.
If you could have supper with anyone dead or alive, who would you pick? Winston Churchill, maybe Leon Trotsky because I love Russian history too. I’d probably say Tolstoy, a Russian author who wrote a lot of like classic Russian literature.
If you had a superpower, what would you have? Honestly flight is hokey but I love it. I have dreams about that all the time. Flight or translocation.
Lastly, do you have any words of wisdom for everyone? Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.

Who is your employer? Fellowship Baptist Church.
What do you do there? I’m the Associate Pastor at the Fellowship Baptist Church.
What do you like most about your job? What I like most about the job is just building a good relationship with everyone. You know who they are and understanding their stories.
Where are you from? Chatham, Ontario. It’s down near Windsor.
How long have you lived here in Drumheller? Since September of 2016.
What brought you to the valley? Mainly the job but my wife’s family is all from this area as well. When we were in Ontario, we tried to move back to Alberta but we didn’t know if it would be Drumheller or not. The church ended up being open for the position so it all worked out.
What is your top travel destination? It would have to be to Rome to see the colosseum and the catacombs. I’m very big into old buildings and history.
If you could travel through time, when and where would you like to visit? I’m not only a history nerd but I’d like to visit Canada during the John A. MacDonald time. I think it’d be cool to. I had to pick one that would be where I would go.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you bring with you? I’d bring lint to start a fire. The christian thing I should say is bring my bible or at least some type of reading material. It’d get really boring – and a fishing lure so that I can fish.
Choose one thing to eat for the rest of your life? If I had to pick something I would have to pick my Oma’s dutch stew. It’s dutch pea soup and it’s delicious. It’s nutritious so you get everything.
Do you have any favourite books? My favourite book that I like is Pursuit of God by A. W. Tozer. It’s the book that’s changed my life. It’s one of those ones that you can just read over and over again.
If you had a superpower what would you have? You know I’ve always been in constant conflict with that question in my brain. It’s either between flying and being invisible. I think i’d like to be invisible when it comes down to it – it’d be fun. Just to play practical jokes.
Lastly, do you have any wise words of wisdom for everyone? Honour your mother and father and never let anger go down. Respect each other basically.

What do you do? I’m a MSR, a Member’s Service Representative.
What do you like most about your job? The people.
Where are you from? Morrin, Alberta.
How long have you lived here? Almost four years.
Where are you originally from? Truro, Nova Scotia.
What are some of your top travel destinations? I do want to visit England and Scotland.
What do you like to do while on vacation? Visit my grandson and my daughter.
If you could travel through time, when and where would you like to visit? Scotland in the 1800’s because of a book series I read.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you bring with you? A really big book, water, and wine.
Choose one thing to eat for the rest f your life? I’m going to go with pizza. Not Alberta pizza but Nova Scotia pizza.
Do you have any favourite books? The Outlander series, I’ve read it probably twenty times if not more. They’re my summer reading every year – It’s like going to visit old friends.
If you had a superpower what would you have? I’d love to be able to fly, I’d get around so much easier.
Lastly, do you have any words of wisdom? Listen to your mother. In general, I think most people don’t listen to their mother and then they get to a certain age and go ‘Oh my god, I wish I had listened to my mother’.
