Who are you? Lydia Nastiuk

 

Age: 39.
Employer: New franchise owner of the Drumheller H&R Block.
What do you like most about your job? You get to meet a lot of different people and hear so much about the town.
How long have you lived in the Valley? Since January 23.
Where are you from originally? Saskatoon, but more recently from Calgary.
What do you like most about living here? The community dinners.
Top travel destinations? Hawaii and Las Vegas were awesome, I would love to go back. I’d really like to go to England and Scotland.
What do you like to do while on vacation? I’m a tourist, I like to see the sights and learn about the history and heritage.
What three things would you bring to a deserted island? Chocolate, some books, and pictures of my family.
Choose one thing to eat for the rest of your life: Milk chocolate.
Most memorable childhood toy: We had a little 50 cc motorbike that my brother and I used to bomb around the farm on.
Favourite movies: Wild Hogs.
Favourite TV shows: We don’t have TV right now and unless it’s been on Treehouse in the past five years, I haven’t seen much.
What would be your theme song? Redneck Girl.
What’s on your playlist these days? A lot of modern country..
If you had a band, what instrument would you play? Electric violin.
Favourite games: I used to play Monopoly a lot when I was a kid. I play Snakes and Ladders and Connect 4 with my kid.
What is the one piece of technology you could not live without? Indoor plumbing.
What superpower would you want? Unlimited energy to keep up with my almost five year old.
Any words of wisdom? Do your taxes on time and be nice to people, be kind.

Age: Turning 47.
Employer: Trican.
Occupation: Base Manager.
What do you like most about your job? It’s a challenge.
Dream job? Not to have one.
How long have you lived in the valley? Ten months. Came here last April.
Where are you from originally? Hinton.
What do you like most about living here? The people are pretty nice.
Anything you would change? Make it more modern and clean things up a bit to make it more appealing for people to move here.
Top travel destinations? I’ve been snowboarding at Lake Tahoe. Going to Mardi Gras, that’s this week.
What do you like to do while on vacation? Camping, the outdoors, and my dirt bikes.
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you bring? My sweetpea and my truck. I’m pretty self sufficient.
What three words would you use to describe yourself? Motivated, determined, and visionary.
Anything you do around the community? The first thing I did here was the Ronald MacDonald drive.
If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be? Vegetables.
Hobbies? I was a singer/songwriter. That’s my hobby.
Theme song? It’s a song I wrote called The Cowboy Way.
Any instruments you play? Guitar and piano.
One piece of technology you could not live without: I need my phone for my job and that’s it.
Favourite sports:
I like pretty much anything. I used to play softball, but I haven’t gotten involved here.
Favourite teams: Nashville Predators, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the Tennessee Titans.
Skiing or snowboarding? I’d never ski. I prefer snowboarding.
Any words of wisdom? Be kind to others.

Age: 38.
Employer: O’Shea's.
Occupation: General Manager.
What do you like most about your job? The people.
Dream job? Regional Manager.
How long have you lived in the valley? Since last July.
Where are you from originally? Camrose.
What do you like most about living here? The small town atmosphere.
Anything you would change? More shopping, like clothing stores.
What are some of your top travel destinations? Mexico, Puerto Vallarta. I’ve been a lot of places but Mexico is my favourite.
What do you like to do while on vacation? Shopping.
If you could travel through time, when and where would you like to visit? Back to the 1800s, Victorian England.
If you could hang out with anyone, who would it be and what would you do? Princess Di and we would have tea and then go shopping.
Three words that describe yourself: Considerate, caring, and outgoing.
What is your most memorable childhood toy? Cabbage Patch Doll.
Favourite movie: Mama Mia.
In the movie of your life, who would you want to play the part of you? Julia Roberts.
What would be your theme song? I’ve Got a Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas.
What’s on your playlist? I have a mix between pop and country.
What is one piece of technology you could not live without? My cell phone.
Favourite sports: Bowling. I used to play in three leagues in Camrose, but I haven’t here yet.
Favourite books: I read a lot of Stephen King.
