Who are you? Dennis and Stasha Standage

Age: (D) 32, (S) 26
Occupation: Owners of Sublime Food and Wine.
What inspired you to open the restaurant? (D)I’ve wanted to own my own restaurant for the past 10 years.
Where are you from? (S) We’re  both from Drumheller, but we lived in Cochrane for six years.
What do you like most about your job? (S) The people, seeing them everyday, and hearing their feedback on the food. (D) Being able to create new food.
What do you like most about living here? (S) It’s an awesome place, the valley is beautiful, and the people are amazing.
Any top travel destinations? (D) Turks and Caicos, Jamaica... (S) and Thailand.
What three things would you bring to a deserted island? (D) Cold beer. (S) A fishing rod and an axe.
Choose one thing to eat for the rest of your life? (D) Tofu burger. (S) He’s fooling around, I’m vegetarian so he’s being sarcastic. I’d have popcorn. (D) Burgers then.
If you could hang out with anyone who would it be? (S) I would hang out with Drew Barrymore. (D) I would too.
Favourite movies: (S) The Wedding Singer and Fifty First Dates. (D) The Usual Suspects.
Anything you watch together? (S) Usually a comedy. We like to laugh after work.
In the movie of your lives, who would play you? (S) Marilyn Monroe. (D) I don’t know. (S) James Dean?. (D) Adam Sandler.
Favourite bands: (D) Sublime. (S) I like all kinds of music, but Tragically Hip is one of my all time favourites.
If you had a band, what instruments would you play? (S) Stand up bass. (D) Beat boxing.
One piece of technology you couldn’t live without: (S) My vehicle. (D) I could probably live without any of it. (S) An oven or stove? (D) A barbecue!
Favourite games: (S) Crib, dice...(D) Darts. (S) We used to be in a dart league.
Favourite colours: (D) Lime green. (S) Purple.
If you went back in time, what would you tell your younger selves? (S) Follow your dreams. (D) Work less.


Who are you? Kim McDonald

Age: 40.
Occupation: I work at home, I’m a professional parent.
How long have you lived in the Valley? Around eight years.
Where are you from originally? I’m from Perry Sound, Ontario.
What brought you here? I moved to BC when I was little and then went to the University of Lethbridge. Then I married an Albertan.
What do you like most about living here? The people. Drumheller has great, friendly, wonderful people.
Anything you would change? More trees and maybe a lake.
Top travel destinations? I love travelling. I’m going to Haiti in July and it’s a big one on my bucket list. We sponsor a couple children there and my daughter and I are going to spend a couple weeks touring different projects there.
What three things would you bring to a deserted island (excluding family/friends)? A Kobo full of books, my iPod with some great music on it, and lots of bags of chips.
One thing you could eat for the rest of your life? It shouldn’t be chips. A spinach salad with raspberries and  some diced chicken.
If you could hang out with anyone, who would it be? Jesus would be cool. For people who are alive now I would say Donald Miller or Anne Lamott.
Any hobbies? Reading, hiking, and acting. I just finished my degree, so I haven’t had a lot of time for hobbies.
What was your degree? I got a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature.
Favourite movies or TV shows: I like artsy movies like Sliding Doors. I try to avoid TV, but I get drawn into stuff like The Bachelor.
Favourite books: There are so many. Time Travellers Wife is a classic. While I Was Sleeping was one I just finished and it was mesmerizing.
Favourite part of spring: Getting outside and going camping.
Any words of wisdom? Don’t worry about the little things, pick the mountain you’re going to die on.

Who are you? James Fraser

Age: 25.
Employer: Eurest, Royal Tyrrell Museum Restaurant.
Occupation: Assistant Manager.
What do you like most about your job? Making people happy.
Dream job? Owning a family restaurant.
How long have you lived in the Valley? Since November, but I lived in Carbon between May and November last year.
Where are you from originally? Edmonton.
What do you like most about living here? It’s quiet, I like it.
Anything you would change? More busy in the winter.
Any top travel destinations? I’ve been to Nova Scotia. I want to see Newfoundland. I don’t really want to go anywhere outside of Canada.
If you could travel through time, when and where would you visit? The wild west to see what it was really like.
If you could hang out with anyone, who would it be? Michael Smith. He’s one of the top chefs in Canada, so  I would love to hang out and talk about food.
What is one thing you could eat for the rest of your life? Chocolate ganache.
What is your most memorable childhood toy? My Super Nintendo. I had it for many years.
Favourite games? Super Mario World and Yahtzee.
Favourite movies? Pretty much anything with Jim Carrey in it.
In the movie of your life, who would play you? Brendan Fraser.
What would be your theme song? I’m a Gummy Bear.
If you had your own band, what instrument would you play? The spoons.
What is one piece of technology you could not live without? My cell phone?
One thing you want to do before the end of the Mayan calender? Take a vacation with my family.
Any words of wisdom? Don’t take life seriously and take it one day at a time.
