Who are you? Brinley Elkes

 

Age: I just turned 19.

Employer: Dinosaur Trail Golf and Country Club.

Occupation: Cashier.

How long you been living in Drumheller? I was born and raised in Drumheller, but, I go to college in Red Deer.

What are you taking? Business Administration. I’d like to start my own business when I get my degree.

Any ideas for a business? Probably a clothing store, but I’m not sure about the location yet.

What do you like most about living here? The dinosaurs, it’s a small town and I’m a country girl at heart, and all the people.

What is one thing you wanted to be when you were a kid? I knew when I was little I wanted to be a fashion designer or a teacher.

What are some top travel destinations? I’ve always wanted to go to Paris, Italy, Europe in general, or Australia.

Favourite books? My favourite right now are The Hunger Game books.

If you could travel through time, when and where would you go? I would love to have a conversation or have supper with Audrey Hepburn. 

What is your most memorable childhood toy? My stuffed rabbit, I took him everywhere.

Choose one thing to eat for the rest of your life: Spaghetti with meatballs.

If you won $1 million, what would you do? Give some to family, donate, and for the rest I’d get the beach house my sister and I want to get. We’re thinking somewhere on the Oregon coast.

Favourite movies? Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Charade, Star Wars. Original or prequel? Original. I love black and white movies.

What music would play when you enter a room? Call Me Maybe, by Carly Rae Jepsen.

What superpower would you want? Read minds, it would interesting to hear other people’s thoughts.

What advice would you give to your younger self? Have no regrets.


Who are you? Bernie Germain

 

Age: Old - 40.

Employer: Owner and chef of Bernie and the Boys.

What do you like most about your job? I love to satisfy people’s cravings for good food.

What brought you to Drumheller? We opened the newspaper and this place was in it. I ended up selling my stamp collection to help finance this place.

Have you gotten back into philately since then? Yeah a little bit. I was pretty aggressive back in the day.

How long have you been in Drumheller? 12 years.

What do you like most? I like that my kids can walk down the street and I feel secure.

Anything you would change? I would make it drier, it’s not quite dry enough,

What are some places you want to visit? I want to go back to Las Vegas. I’d like to go to Disneyland or Hawaii. Somewhere tropical and warm.

If you could travel through time, when and where would you visit? I would like to go and meet Escoffier, cook with him, and see what it was like inventing so much food.

What three things would you bring to a deserted island? A satellite phone, a safe full of money (you’ve got to pay for everything you ordered with the satellite phone), and Bernie’s best seasoning.

What would you do with $1 million? Buy a bigger house, a motorhome, and play the market.

One thing you could eat for the rest of your life? Barbecued back ribs, they’re so delicious.

What would be your theme song? Something robotic, because I’m often called a robot.

Favourite books: Anything by Peter Schiff. Anything about economies crashing and how to avoid it.

What superpower would you want? Invisibility. Sometimes I’d just like to disappear.

Any words of wisdom? Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go, they merely determine where you start.
