Who are you? Heather Pautler

Who are you? Heather Pautler

Age: 22

Employment: Social work practicum student at the Drumheller Institution.

What do you like most about your practicum? The interaction aspect. I’m definitely a people person in that sense.

How long have you lived in Drumheller? I moved here about four weeks ago, so it’s all new to me. I am originally from Medicine Hat.

What do you like most about living in the valley? I like how the buildings and the houses and everything is so close knit. It has that city feel with a small town atmosphere. I’m really excited to start exploring all the museums around here. At first I thought there was only the Tyrrell but after moving I am realizing they are all over the place! I’m going to try to take them all in.

Is there anything you don’t like so far?  I do miss my family and friends who are back home.

What would you say is your best quality as a person and why? I’m pretty outgoing. I’d say I’m really easy to get along with and I am able to stay positive. It helps in my profession, and it helps build a rapport with people.

Do you have any hidden talents? Most people don’t know this, even those who have known me for years, but I can walk on stilts really well.

What are you most afraid of? Spiders. We used to find black widows in our basement in Medicine Hat and I’m fairly certain that’s where my fear started. I just don’t trust things with eight legs!

What’s the craziest thing you’d ever try? A friend once mentioned bungee jumping to me. I would try it at least once I think. It would take a lot to get me to do it but I think I would.

If you could have a superpower, which would it be and why? I’d like to be able to teleport whenever I wanted. It would save so much time and money on travelling.

What are some of your main goals? First off I’d like to finish my bachelor’s degree in social work.  Then I’d like to do some travelling to Antarctica or something crazy.

Who are you? Stephen Ellerbeck

Age: 45.

Employer: The Canadian Badlands Passion Play.

Occupation: I’m a singer, playwright, actor, painter, and sculptor, but I also do construction.

Who are you playing in the show this year? I play the head temple guard. He’s basically the muscle for the Pharisees. He almost becomes a believer in Jesus as the Messiah, but then he loses his job over it. To earn his way back, he has to become the enforcer again.

How long have you been involved with the Passion Play? I was here when I was a student in Rosebud, so I was about 21 or 22 years old. In ‘97 and ‘98 I played Jesus. I took a break for quite awhile and went to the west coast.

When did you come to Drumheller? I jumped on my motorcycle last year in April, came here, and have been working here ever since.

Dream job? I think I’m doing it. This is as close to the dream as it gets for me, because I’m building, I do a little design, I get to be in the show, and there’s lots of people around.

Where are you from originally? I grew up on a farm near Linden, Alberta.

What do you like most about Drumheller? The summer, I love small towns, and there are really good people in Drumheller.

If you could hang out with anyone, who it be? Leonardo da Vinci. I would want to hear his opinion on all sorts of stuff.

What is your most memorable childhood toy? Lego, it was a new toy every day. We always built Lego towers to see who could build the highest one.

Any favourite movies/TV shows? Moulin Rouge, Lord of the Rings, Au Chocolat, Ballroom Dancing, Mad Max, and Star Wars. I like Sci-fi. For TV, I liked Dexter, but then it got ridiculous.

What would be your theme song? I’ve never really thought about it. How about Dreamer by Supertramp, or The Logical Song.

If you had your own band, what instrument would you play? I’ve played keyboard since I was 8. I usually play blues, jazz, folk blues, or ballads.

Any words of wisdom? Just because you don’t believe doesn’t mean it’s not true, or the reverse of that.

Who are you? Brett Richardson

Age: 19

Employer: Rocky Mountain Equipment

Employment: A second year apprentice heavy duty mechanic

What do you like most about your job? I like the people I work with. We have a really good crew here.

How long have you lived in Drumheller? I’ve lived here all my life.

What do you like most about the valley?  The scenery for sure. It’s different than anywhere else, and I’d much rather be here than in a big city.

What are some of your hobbies outside of work? I like to go quadding. I sometimes go to Willow Creek to ride, it gets me out of the house and that’s what I enjoy.

What technology could you not live without? Well to be honest, there’s a lot of things I could live without. However, I don’t think I could live without my alarm clock. Without it, I’d be late for work a lot more often.

If you made a movie about your life, which actor would play the role of you? Now that would be a box office hit. I would have to say Tom Green. He’s hilarious!

What are three words that describe Brett? Funny. Outgoing. Energetic.

What has been the unluckiest situation you have ever encountered? When I found out the fuel gauge didn’t work on my truck. I had just pulled out of my driveway when it ran out of fuel. I wasn’t very impressed to say the least.

What’s been your most embarrassing moment? Definitely when I bring a girlfriend home to meet the family and my mom breaks out the baby albums. It’s not even funny, it’s like a cliche out of a movie.

Is there anything that you would like to try that you haven’t gotten the chance to yet? I really want to go deep sea fishing. It would be an adventure I think. Reeling in like a 50 pound fish would be awesome and would definitely test your fisherman skills.

Any words of wisdom? Never give up.
