Who Are You? Edward Cox

Age: 31.
Employer: Flint Oilfield Services.
Occupation: Parts Technician.
What do you like most about your job? It let’s me spend time with my family. I used to manage a movie theater and it was hard when I couldn’t spend time with them.
What would be your dream job? Rock legend, baseball superstar, or hockey player.
How long have you lived in Drumheller? 4 months, but my wife was here before that.
Where are you from originally? Royal Oak, Michigan.
What do you like most about living here? Experiencing the summer season. My daughter thinks dinosaurs are awesome and the new library is really good. All of the tourist stuff here is new to me.
Any travel destinations in mind? The island of Hydra off the coast of Greece. I became a little obsessed with Greece during the Olympics in 2004. All the scenery they showed was gorgeous.
What’s the coolest place you’ve been to? I was driving through some place in Colorado and I watched the sunrise over a river. It was amazing and I’ll never forget it.
What’s one thing you could eat for the rest of your life? This weird concoction I came up with based on lasagna. Instead of noodles it had spinach and I used alfredo sauce.
What is your most memorable childhood toy? An original generation one Optimus Prime. His arm broke one day and I was heart broken.
Favourite movies? A Clockwork Orange, but it shouldn’t be viewed by the public at large. For a sentimental choice, the 1986 Transformers. Also Empire Strikes Back.
Favourite bands? Guns n’ Roses, Smashing Pumpkins, anything by Billy Corgan, and The Wall by Pink Floyd.
What is one piece of technology you could not live without? Cell phone. It’s got everything I need.
What superpower would you want? Fly or some method of incredibly fast travel.
Any words of wisdom? Enjoy what you have.


Who Are You? Rob Hegberg

Age: 35.
Employer: Greentree School.
Occupation: Teacher, Grade 4.
What do you like most about your job? Being an impact, a role model for the young people in the school and the look they get on their face when they have that “Aha!” moment.
What’s your favourite class to teach? Probably Phys. Ed., but I really enjoy Language Arts and Social Studies too.
How long have you lived in Drumheller? Since 2002, but I moved away to go to school for a year and got back last August.
Where are you from originally? Stettler.
What do you like most about Drumheller? It’s a very unique community. I like the people, we have a great group of friends here, we’re trying to be involved in the community, and I like the small town feel.
Any hobbies? I love golf, play slo-pitch, active in fitness, two dogs, camp, and travel.
What’s the coolest place you’ve been to? I went to a little place in Italy called San Gimignano. It was an old fort, surrounded by a huge brick wall and moat. It was amazing to be in that small town Italian culture, with so much history.
If you could travel through time, when and where would you go? I would go back to the days when there was a big rivalry between Boston and Montreal. I would love to watch Bobby Orr play hockey live.
One thing you could eat for the rest of your life: My mom’s lasagna.
What is your most memorable childhood toy? LEGO and my Tonka Toys.
In the movie of your life, who would play the part of you? Jason Statham, I’ve heard he looks like me from quite a few people.
It’s Thanksgiving, what are you looking forward to? It’s always great to spend time with your family, relax, and enjoy their company.
What is your most memorable Halloween costume? My wife and I dressed up as the Spartan cheerleaders from Saturday Night Live.
Any words of wisdom? Treat others as you want to be treated yourself.

Who Are You? Jen Wright

Age: 43.
Employer: FloMax Compression Ltd.
Occupation: Billing Coordinator.
Dream Job? I’m working toward that now. My dream job would be a yoga instructor. I just got certified and I’m teaching at the Community Facility.
Why yoga? I find it very rewarding.
How long have you lived in Drumheller? 14 years.
Where are you from originally? About 45 minutes outside of Ottawa.
What do you like most about living here? The sense of community.
What’s the coolest place you’ve been to? I’d have to say B.C. We lived there for a couple years and it was amazing.
Any travel destinations in mind? Jamaica, because it’s warm and beautiful.
What three things would you bring to a deserted island? A tooth brush, a pen, and paper to draw with. Something to keep me busy.
Any hobbies? Yoga is my hobby and I love to read.
Any favourite books? I read a broad spectrum of books. I’m not picky about what I read.
Who would you hang out with if given the chance? Gandhi. With the peace, giving, and love philosophies, he had a lot of insights which we could use today.
What’s on your playlist these days? John Butler Trio, the album Leaf, Pink, a little bit of reggae.
What is the most terrifying movie you’ve seen? Dial M for Murder. I was really young and we lived in the country with no lights, no one around us. It was a really creepy movie.
Have you ever done the Thriller dance? Yes, unfortunately.
What’s your most memorable Halloween costume? I went out as a witch, which sounds simple, but we did all the makeup and the warts. We went the whole nine yards.
Any words of wisdom? Be open minded, embrace everything that comes your way, and learn from it.
