In September 2024, RCMP officers of the Drumheller RCMP General Investigation Section (G.I.S.) initiated a drug trafficking investigation in and around the community of Drumheller.
At 10:48 p.m. on October 3, RCMP officers from Drumheller G.I.S., Drumheller General Duty Officers, and officers from the Airdrie Crime Reduction Unit located and arrested one adult male and one adult female occupying a 2008 Buick Enclave on Highway 9 near 12th Avenue in Drumheller.
Subsequent to the arrest, Police searched the vehicle and occupants and located a quantity of cocaine and Canadian currency.
A 47-year-old male and a 34-year-old female, both residents of Drumheller, were jointly charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The female was additionally charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of cocaine.
Both were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Drumheller on December 13 to answer to the charges.
RCMP continue to investigate this matter and note additional charges are pending.
Staff Sergeant Robert Harms of Drumheller RCMP stated, “This is yet another example of our Alberta RCMP units working together to address crime in our communities. The seizure and removal of the drugs is significant and another step towards safe and secure communities.”
Names of those charged are not being released as Court Information’s have not yet been sworn.
