The Drumheller Dragons are pleased to announce the recent signing of 16 year old Forward Dru Hickle, from Hanna, AB.

Hickle, a 5’11”, 203 lb Left Winger, is currently an Assistant Captain for the Medicine Hat Midget AAA Tigers in the Alberta Midget Hockey League, and is an Affiliate Player for the Dragons.
He spent the 2009-10 season with the Midget AAA Tigers, and prior to that was a member of the Airdrie Xtreme Bantam AAA team, as well as the Central Thrashers in the 2009 Alberta Cup.
Regarded for his blistering shot, powerful skating stride and punishing physical play, Hickle is expected to bring speed and strength to the Dragons’ lineup in the coming seasons.
An honour roll student, Dru is also an extremely intelligent player, and will be counted on to help continue the Dragons’ tradition of on and off-ice competitiveness, judgment and character.
Dragons’ Head Coach and General Manager, Dan Price, commented on the recent signing, saying, “We’re very proud to say that Dru has joined the Dragons’ family.  When you speak with him, you are instantly struck by his maturity, intelligence, strength of character and competitiveness.  He really fits the definition of a “Dragon”.  Drumheller hockey fans are going to love his style of play.  He is fast and physical, and has an overpowering shot.  He is going to be a very impactful power forward in the AJHL.”
After committing to the Dragons, Hickle commented on what it means to play in Drumheller.
“I was born and raised 45 minutes away from Drumheller in Hanna,” he said.  “This area is my home and it means so much to me to have the chance to represent Drumheller and its surrounding communities.  And to be able to do it with other local players like Dylan Schellenberg and Josh Kluck, among others, is even more special.  I can’t wait to get on the ice with those guys and the rest of the Team.”
