It is with great sadness that we announce Gerry’s passing. He was ill for the last few years, finding this last year especially difficult. Yet, he faced his declining health with strength and courage supported by the love and encouragement of his family and friends. Throughout his life Gerry strove to be cheerful and shared his sense of humour with everyone he met - grateful for the chance to brighten their day. It says a lot about who he was that, in the end, even at his weakest, he remained cheerful. We’ll cherish Gerry’s laughter. Gerry’s faith sustained him to the end and we’re so grateful for his church family and most especially Father Gilles Leblanc. People in Drumheller, Calgary and Mt. Angel, Oregon were special to Gerry and made up the fabric of his life. We thank you for that and for your concern. Recently, some who remember Gerry from his paperboy days have asked, “How’s our boy?” At last, we can say he’s at peace.
Gerry leaves to mourn his parents, Betty Moar (Robert) and Bill Doyle (Sharon), his brother Mark (Susan) and their children Lori, Blair, and Daniel, his sister Brenda (Cory) and their children Brody, Mitchell, and Natalie, his sister Theresa (Brian) and their children Lyndsie and Sam, and his sister Betty (Les) and Les’ daughter, Kristin. Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, in Calgary. We appreciate the condolences expressed by so many. Always and forever in our hearts until we meet again … GeeGee. In honour of Gerry’s memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. “I have slipped the surly bonds of earth … put out my hand and touched the face of God.”
