Dragons add firepower

 

The Drumheller Dragons are proud to announce the signing of two gifted offensive minded players!

 

“Colton Vanucci will bring us a center who possesses strong play making abilities and scoring touch.  He will bring some much needed offence to our line up along with a great competitive attitude.  We welcome Colton to the Dragon Family,” commented head coach Brian Curran.

Vanucci, of High River is a 1993 born, 5’9”, 160 lb forward.  Vanucci played for the Kimberley Dynamiters in the KIJHL in the 2011-12 season. As a Dynamiter, Vanucci compiled 27 goals and 48 assists for 75 points in 49 regular season games, with 48 penalty minutes.

The Kimberley Dynamiters head coach, Roman Vopat commented, “the Dynamiters are proud they were able to aid in Colton’s development.  We are very happy to see Colton, who was our most competitive player last year move on to the next level. We wish both him and the Dragons continued success next season.”

The Dragons also signed Dakota Zahariachuk, originally from Sherwood Park.

“Dakota Zahariachuk is a strong skater, with strong offensive abilities. Dakota will also help bring offense to our line up. Dakota is strong with the puck, and, in my belief, will be a top player in this league, along with Vanucci,” was the comment Curran had after the recent signing. “We also welcome Dakota to the Dragons Family”

Zahariachuk is a 1994 born 5’9” 165 lb Forward. He played for the now disbanded St. Louis Bandits in the NAHL for the 2011-12 season.  Zaharichuk had 4 goals 4 assists for 8 points in 17 games played with 8 penalty minutes.

Dakota added, “I’m very excited to be playing back in Alberta, and proud to be playing for the Drumheller Dragons, this is a great opportunity for me!”
