BEAGRIE, Wayne Ian

December 11, 1940 - January 15, 2015

Wayne Ian Beagrie was born December 11, 1940 in Swalwell, Alberta and passed away suddenly at his home in Drumheller on January 15, 2015. After graduating from the Three Hills High School he enrolled in Culinary program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary.  When the Golden Hills Lodge opened in 1960 he came home to Three Hills and became the first cook at the Lodge.  To further his training, he moved to Barrie, Ontario in 1961 to apprentice and was part of the first graduating class of apprentice cooks at the Ontario Provincial Institute of Trades in Toronto.  He continued his career in the hospitality industry working as a chef, executive chef, and hotel manager in Calgary, Edmonton, Oakville, Lethbridge, Moose Jaw, Hanna and finally in Drumheller where he was the kitchen supervisor at the Correctional facility for many years. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Karl and Grace Beagrie.  He will be sadly missed by his son James, brothers Doug, Darryl (Linda), and sister Ella Lammle (Allen), nephew Cam and Kyle Beagrie, nieces Stacie Trentham, Kathryn Plante, Tara Lammle, their families, and numerous cousins.
