A second inmate in as many days has passed away after being found unresponsive in his cell.
Institution staff performed CPR on 47 year-old Martin Pinkus, and emergency services transported Pinkus to the Drumheller Health Centre where he was pronounced dead at 12:04 p.m. today, January 28.
The inmate had been serving an indeterminate sentence since December of 1999 for second degree murder, aggravated assault, and assault causing bodily harm.
With all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and coroner are contacted, and Correctional Services Canada conducts a review of the circumstances around the inmate’s death.
On Monday, 56 year-old Earl Davenport was pronounced dead at the scene when he could not be resusitated by emergency services after being found unresponsive in his cell.
