Q: Myth or Fact - Landlords must notify tenants when they are selling the property? Q: Myth or Fact - Landlords must notify tenants when they are selling the property? A: Landlords are not required to notify the tenants, but may wish to do so out of courtesy. If the purchaser wants possession of the property, the purchaser may, once all conditions are met, request in writing that the seller give a notice to terminate the tenancy to the tenant in a period of tenancy, but only for one or more reasons mentioned in the Regulations. If this does not occur, then the purchaser “inherits” the tenant.
